A few years back I got a brother labelmaker (which were $49.95 back then  - now $59.95) for 50% (coupon was 50% off one item under $50) and got $30 cashback. Net result was one labelmaker for free plus $5 cash






I got that too. Essentially they paid you $5 to take one of their label makers. The problem with them is that the tape for them is so expensive, and don't think that cheap refills exist for them. It is a bit like inkjets, they basically give away the printer, to hook you on the ink.

Cheap third party tapes exist at under half the normal retail price however the genuine brother tapes aren't too different to the Dymo tapes when you consider the brother ones are 8m in length vs the Dymo's 4m

yeah thats true. but when its twice the price each time its just more $$ sitting there waiting to print.

Brothers are laminated labels but I am yet to see that help with longevity
