2. I seem to remember reading that Sanitarium is owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Church and don't pay any company tax..
alasta: It's not real Marmite though. It's just an NZ made imitation.

I take it you don't eat Weet-Bix and Sanitarium peanut butter either?
myopinion: No actually Marmite is better than Vegemite :)
DaveDog: I'm a vegemite fan myself and definitely not Australian... That being said - I think the way Sanitarium behaved towards that British chap was totally outrageous and they've certainly not done themselves any favours in my book...
I don't think that their behaviour was very Christian or Kiwi - and any loyalty I had for them is well gone.

You mean the British chap that could have sold "Our Mate" which is actually British Marmite rebranded for sale in a country where Sanitarium owns the trademark (and is legally obliged to defend it)?

Yep. I much prefer Vegemite to Marmite, and generally avoid Sanitarium products as much as possible as I do not support the idea of religious organisations paying no tax on business profits.

I mean the british chap that imported Maa'mite that is named differently, branded differently, tastes differently and entering a market where Sanitarium Marmite isn't available anyway... They weren't defending their brand - they were fighting competition... Big difference.
