My folks told me they saw some kind of advertisement in which Countdown were giving away FREE jars of Marmite tomorrow. I know it goes on sale again tomorrow, but any truth to the FREE thing?

I think it was spend $50 and you get a 250 ml (small) jar free. Didn't pay that much attention as I am a Vegemite man myself.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

It's not real Marmite though. It's just an NZ made imitation.

Mods, get the Ban Hammer! Real geeks drink real coffee and eat Marmite sandwiches, not instant coffee and vegemite :)

The marmite 'shortage' (marketing gimmick) was a good opportunity for a kiwi company to bring out 'kiwimite'. In Oz, they have Ozemite sold by Dick Smiths.

I think  the whole embargo they have on preventing stores selling it before 12am tomorrow is way over the top. But the NZ media has loved it. I totally bored by it.

I got the same email.
It says stocks are limited, so is it free, until all the shops stock is sold out. Or do they have just a limited number they are giving away. eg Just a 100 jars, and once those are gone, you have to buy them. Not clear from countdown

1. I don't like Marmite.
2. I seem to remember reading that Sanitarium is owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Church and don't pay any company tax..
