Just a bit cold but nothing to cry about, certainly not a HUGE event like the media made it out to be. Only wore the usual hoodie and a scarf. There was a bit of hail earlier but thats as bad as it got really.

ChCh is chilly, but as MF said, its winter. No snow, kids are miffed. But I gather it is pretty bad in Canterbury, but its just a cold, winters day in ChCh.

Holy crap. 143Km/h gusts in Wellington, the house here is shaking violently and serious noise.

But don't be a wussie.

Our house in Khandallah is getting buffeted right now! We're completely exposed to the south so it's mental right now!

Just lost power for 20 minutes then it came back. Power poles are rocking sideways and the cables look like they could fly away any second. More than a few times we've thought the window behind our couch might be about to smash.

I can't see us getting much sleep tonight :/ Also can't see me getting to work in the morning if this continues!

Just really windy and wet here in ChCh. Disappointed the snow I was hoping for isn't going to happen.

I'd ordered Burger Fuel and as I was driving past the old peoples home saw the power go out, damn. Lucky my order was sitting there and because the power was out got it for free.

Amazingly the power didn't go out down half our street in Broadmeadows whilst the rest was out, we must feed off Churton Park as they still had power too.

Lucked out tonight

Saw that. But citation needed. Metservice reports 143Km/h Western Hills...

My Twitter stream is full of weather tweets, latest one I just saw says Wellington is just running on 1 power circuit, if it goes everyone is in the dark.
Don't know if that is real or not

There is a power line, a huge tree and a fence down near my place in Southgate, Wellington. Fortunately at this stage knocking out that power line seems to have only affected the street lighting.
