I ignore any ad that has Quinovic plastered on it on Trademe, they are the worst to deal with, unhelpful and rude.

I find it ironic that they "work for the property owners" yet make little effort to try garner "sales" for said property owner.

I had the worst experience with this company as a landlord and decided to use someone else. They are crap for both the parties involved.

I have always found the Wellington ones good to deal with. I guess it is the same with anything, and it is the bad experiences that people write about, and not the good experiences.

Yours is the first and only good experience I have read, or heard, about them. EVER.

Like I said, you don't usually hear of good experiences in general, as it is human nature to talk about bad ones. Also it is possibly the nature of the business. Have you heard many good reviews of debt collectors, whellclampers, towies, parking companies, ISPs etc. I have usually only had positive experiences with all those, but wouldn't write about those positive experiences, as that is just an everyday thing that you should expect.   But they would all be difficult services to work for, due to the nature of the work some of the customers you can be dealing with, who can treat people very badly. Although I don't work in any of those sectors, I know how some people can treat the workers in the poorly, and some people are just plain rude in their communications, which will get anyones back up.
I have heard of companies that pay for positive reviews in the form of free credit or competitions. Imagine a program like Fair Go, but in reverse, where only positive stories are shown. It wouldn't last long, as it would be boring.

I have a property in Napier managed by Quinovic.

I do not have a problem with them, and as far as I know, neither do our tenants. I have had the odd communication issue with them, and I do not like their policy of holding rent for 5 working days before paying it out to me (I could understand if the tenant paid by cheque but who does that any more??), but the house is looked after and it has always been tenanted (been with them for 3 years and only been empty for 1 week when the first tenants we had in there moved out and the new ones moved in).

They are a franchise operation.

Then I'll just have to blow your mind again.  Quinovic Johnsonville are great.

We had major issues with our last rental, and they helped us end our contract early with that landlord while finding us another appropriate place to live.  When other issues cropped up at the new address, they were dealt with professionally within a reasonable time frame.

/Shrug.

I have family in Wellington that have told me about their experience now, and they rented a place where electricity and phone was included. Quinovic did not pay the electricity bill and the house was cut off. The office was only open a few hours a day and they were less than helpful in getting the electricity back.

But its good that you have had good experience.

My impression is that they have too little staff and probably are stretching a lot of their staff thin.

So its not so much about the individual being a problem, although it can seem that way. With good experiences being staff that can deal with the stress or have just started with lots of energy.

Its more a systematic problem with understaffing

Taking that into consideration I can understand staff that are less than eager to get new customers onboard.

Hi Jarles

At Quinovic we work hard to provide a good service. I am sorry that this has not been achieved for you.

Each of our franchises is owner operated. Please contact the local Quinovic Napier owners – Ann and Martin Easthope at martin@quinovic-napier.co.nz. We cannot change what has happened but we can apologise personally and hopefully we can still help you to find a property. Alternatively please contact me at stuart.robb@quinovic.com.

I've tried dealing with them when looking at a couple of properties and found them just too difficult/unpleasant, so gave up.

My sister had some horrible dealings with them when it turned out an apartment she was renting had leaky building syndrome. Their attitude towards her & her flatmates was abysmal.

All cases were different agents in/around Wellington CBD.

I gave up very shortly into my flatting time of dealing with property managers, some are better than Quinovic, but I've generally had a much better time dealing direct with landlords although this does dramatically reduce options. (Insert rant about property investors destroying the market for us lower-income folk)
