@surfisup1000 yeah delivery guy has swipe card to access lifts, but as 4 cameras showed he never walked into the lifts...

possibility is that driver delivered it to wrong address, as he was at our apartment building at 7.15am but delivery time is 7.46am. final delivery time is usually pretty accurate, but not 30min late...

that sucks. 

I had a similar issue a while back-- courier first went to the wrong house, no-one home (i know they went to the wrong house becuase i was home all day).  So, the coureir looked up my name on the internet and found an old address of ours. They then dropped the vouchers at our old address, and self- signed the signature.    Even after all this gross negligence, the courier company said too bad, vouchers aren't covered by insurance.

I had Countdown deliver all my groceries to the wrong address once. I got a call which said, "We've left your groceries by your front door" and I said, no you haven't - I am looking out my front door and there's nothing there! (They arrived about half an hour later, clearly packed and unpacked a few extra times.)

To me that's not delivered then, in which case they have not completed their end of the delivery contract, regardless of how little the courier ticket cost.

Surly you're covered under on of the acts?

Friend located in Wellington had a package for him delivered to someone in Auckland, thankfully it had his phone number on it and the person that received it was good enough to call him and organised with the courier company to have it sent to the correct address.

My Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 (worth $950) got left in our letterbox and it was signature required go figure.

Yeah that's complete BS from the courier company. Doesn't matter if their insurance covers it or not, they haven't delivered your package and you have undeniable evidence. Hound them until they do something about it. It is definitely fraud and most probably theft.

Carriage of Goods Act should cover this. You can prove that it was not delivered to your door through the video surveillance. From memory the Carriage of Goods Act covers up to $1500 per item. I haven't got time to find the correct clause tonight but have a look here:

ha ha nice one. I stopped countdown online because icecream would always be melted and you don't get fuel vouchers. 

I don't think fraud, the courier driver didn't 'profit' from his deceit. Think it is just a busy person taking a stupid shortcut.

I already contacted Citizens Advice Bureau, but I guess I will be better of see them in person.

Also we're waiting for seller's attempt to recover ticket from tickets agent.

I swear there is a huge business opportunity for a courier company to come along with very strict delivery guidelines. Get rid of driver commission for a start, wage only. Make drivers wear cameras that link footage to scanning of item, full insurance. Etc etc.
If Im shipping a several hundred dollar value item I would gladly pay an extra $20 for the security.

Then the courier company would actually have to hire the drivers, own the vehicles, organise maintenance, pay holidays, etc. 
90% of courier drivers are self-employed sub contractors that own their own vehicle. The ones that aren't are paid drivers for said sub contractors.
A mate of mine sub-contracted to a courier company, and after vehicle payments, he made $7.50 an hour. Obviously he didn't last long. Some owners get the good routes, somebody has to do the crappy ones.

The sender, not you, is the other party of the contact. You don't have to deal with any courier company at all: the sender should.
