scuwp: Ring your local Police station. They may be able to check for you on the status of the ticket. If not let them know you are having problems contacting the PIB and ask if they can put you through.

For Geektastic - The Police Infringement Bureau process and manage all infringement tickets issued by Police and also other government agencies. Once the cop writes out the ticket the PIB look after everything else. I think they also look after tickets from the speed cameras.

Oh ok, thanks.

The name suggests that they investigate infringements by the Police!

Yeah I had the same problem phoning them, eventually got through at about 11am on Tuesday, only to find out although they had actioned the request I submitted online they didn't bother to reply to the email.
Then a day later had a letter in the mail confirming my ticket had been transferred to the new owner

One thing about the Police is that they are still very much fixated on doing everything via snail mail. They are slowly moving with the times to using email (such as with Complaint Acknowledgement Forms when historic matters are reported via the Crime Reporting Line) but snail mail will still be the main form of communication from them for a while yet.

That makes it easier to split the incoming correspondence into ignore, reject or accept piles (maybe joking).

A lot of the paperwork across government, including Police, relies on original signed documentation, declarations, signed statements etc as required by legislation, rules of evidence, rules around identity etc.  I doubt this will change quickly.  As always legislation is sooooo very far behind technology!

RealMe may be the start of something to change that, but having recently used that to update a passport, I personally would just get the forms and send them in next time.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Yep. Appears there was a recognised problem with people not being able to get through to them recently.

The problem was a 2 month gap in data from the LTNZ updating the Police system.

"However, the scale of the problem only became clear this week as a result of ongoing investigations.

"Once the problem was brought to our attention, police took action to investigate and ensure it was fixed," Mr Griffiths said. "We have also put a number of steps in place to ensure it does not happen again."

I wonder how many "Hello Hello Hello what's going here?" and arse scratching it took before the penny dropped?
