i have been trying to contact them for days on the 0800 number but if the recorded voice answers it, and thats not a certainty, i cant seem to find the option where i can talk to someone. I either have to know a extension number or choose one of the 4 options that just takes you to a recorded message and then back to the beginning. Has anyone actually contacted a person to talk to in the last few weeks, if so can you let me on the secret of how. They say you can email them but you get a message back saying due to extra demand there will be delays and if you dont get a reply in 7 days ring them .i am running out of time  to resolve the problem and it ends up in the courts. does anyone know if they are having problems or is this  just normal . Thanks for any help.

I can only suggest that you compose a letter to the Minister for Police and Commissioner of Police, stating what you have here, explaining why you need to contact them, and asking for a reply.
The buck stops somewhere.
Same as any such problem with corporations.  Address to the CEO, request confirmation of receipt.  Make your problem become their problem.

I believe the Police Infringement Bureau have moved recently, so this may have had an impact on their phones?
When you say you are running out of time, is this based on a ticket you were given at the time of the infringement, or on the reminder you may have been issued?

Presumably you have already provided an explanation in writing and are wanting to follow this up with a phone call? As they will not accept a phone call as a valid means you advising them of your intentions.

The second notice that you were issued is automated, and as such may have been sent out befitted your compliance was received, and/or sighted and verified.
Have you tried calling your local station, and asking to be put through to the Infringement Bureau, they may have better luck on an internal number/extension.

When I got pulled over in the old beater on the way to a wof and had to get compliance I just had to show up at the police station, the officer sighted the wof and stamped the ticket and said to send it it, I sent it in and then heard nothing more from them, no reminder or anything.

I've never even heard of them, much less tried to contact them.

The last time I saw a policeman (and a civvy contractor at that) was the annual inspection for my firearms. Other than that, in 10 years the only interaction I have had is seeing them in cars.

What do they do? Investigate infringements by the Police?

Only if you're dodgey, I've only had them when I move  so not in 2yrs+.

To the OP I wouldn't stress, if you've complied, followed up with the email and your WOF details have been updated properly with NZTA then you're all good as they'll see that info.

(You may want to verify with NZTA though as some mechanics can stuff up the data entry into the system).

If you're still worried, try emailing the officer that gave you the ticket. His QID will be on the ticket: XYZZ12@police.govt.nz

what you've got to do is go to a police station, as even if you've gotten a new WOF they still have to sight that you have etc. you'll find that most stations tend to have someone manning the front desk on Saturdays if you're busy during the week.
and i suggest getting this done sooner rather than later as once they start doing late fees you'll pretty much have to go through alot of effort to get those resolved.

You don't have to go into a Police station, the WOF pass is entered online and the Police can check it online.

Only if you've been pink / green stickered.

If it was just an out of date wof you can just post / email....and front counter will most probably not want to know about it.

Our local police (Wairarapa) insist on an annual inspection of the firearm serial number and security measures for all restricted weapons held. They do it for all B, C and E holders.

Very few stations are open on Saturdays these days. Only large stations in main centres are generally open, most suburban ones are Monday-Friday 0830-1600. Check the Police website or call the local station to confirm opening hours if you intend on visiting a smaller station. And other commentators are correct, Wof complaince does not need to be shown in person at a station.

Ring your local Police station. They may be able to check for you on the status of the ticket. If not let them know you are having problems contacting the PIB and ask if they can put you through.

For Geektastic - The Police Infringement Bureau process and manage all infringement tickets issued by Police and also other government agencies. Once the cop writes out the ticket the PIB look after everything else. I think they also look after tickets from the speed cameras.
