Does anyone want to share what they've got with this 'adult' bag in past years??!! My bet it's 2kg of M&M rip-offs with 'x's on them...

It's basically a gamble, the vast majority of people get things that are of no use to them, and of bugger all use to anyone else. old rechargeable NiMH batteries seem to be popular, at least they're semi useful but they don't last long compared to decent ones.

I've heard legends of people getting iPod's or the like, but I don't think they're real. ;)

You may as well buy a Lotto ticket, or put the money towards lunch.

That is the way I see it too. $14 for the basic crap bag, you can buy lunch and a lotto ticket, and you are still into win something of far more value. But bags of crap were a great marketing idea, as people love a mystery, and a great way to clear old stock noone wants to pay for. I recall in previous years they listed things that some people may get, like xboxes, iphones, etc, but not sure if they are doing that this year. I am sure some people do get some good things.

Generally the items are terrible, previous ones I've seen include cheap($2 shop looking) earrings, inflatable sharks/fish(requires helium purchase), random books, raid fly catcher products etc

I was put off last time I blew $50 hoping for something awesome and was underwhelmed to get a duvet cover that I could have got (somethng similar) for $20 on special at the warehouse. No more bags of crap for me.

Been into the bag-of-crap a few of times, and got some decent stuff once or twice.

It's probably worth looking at the other stuff for sale on 1-Day... I think it's likely that your b-o-c item will be one of those.

You know, after hearing about this for the 1st time I'd rather stick to place random bids on Trademe, because chances are the amount of purchases anyone makes on 1-Day's BoC would be at the same amount of times in total of whichever bid you won from an auction on Trademe. I've scored a Razer Orbweaver in almost brand new condition for $100, whereas this still retails around $200. Scored a Mac Mini G4 at $105. Scored an HP workstation that I converted into a FreeNAS server for $112. These are my good craps, as what you would get in those bags. Just my thoughts.

Its the adult version of the old Lucky Dip for the school fair... bit of harmless fun. If you've got a few bucks to spare than why not give it a go. I've bought one most years, never scored anything that I really wanted but I get to enoy that feeling of excitement when the package arrives... Ordered a dog one as well this year, I'm sure not matter what arrives in that my dog will be all over it, so for $11.50 that'll probably be worth it alone.

It is similar to a school fair lucky dip, aprt from one major difference. With Lucky dips, it was basically a donation to the school, so the prizes were often donated, and you knew the money was going back into the school for you kids. Whereas the crap bags, the money is going to a private company.
I see lotto like a donation too as they donate a lot of what they make to the community, so don't mind buying one of those once in a while, even though I know the chance of winning is tiny.
There is another difference, with a lucky dip, you find out instantly what you get, but with crap bags, you could be waiting a week, which you the time you get it, you may have forgotten you even ordered it.
1 day do often have good deals on other things too, although I haven't purchased anything off them for ages. I got some cheap icebreaker stuff off them once. Although it does seem that they have a lot more cheap chinese stuff now than they used to. They used to sell a lot more good quality branded stuff.
