Bring back the organochlorines, I say!

Semi-seriously: I spray a hell of a lot more useless rubbish than I would something deadly ... You know, because it works first go....

The best insect spray I've ever seen was carried by Telstra installers and linesmen in Qld to fight off the much feared “buzzy bee”.

Well, to be fair, the Queensland Buzzy Bee is a notoriously vicious and cunning apex predator, known to hunt in coordinated pairs. Ever wonder why you never see sharks roosting on phone lines in Queensland? Buzzy Bees, mate. They can launch their stingers (not to be confused with FIM-92s, which are an entirely different sort of stinger) in a lock-on-after-launch mode from a range of up to 8,500m whilst hidden behind convenient cover to stay below shark-radar.

In Vic and NSW the Buzzy Bee population is kept in check by the dreaded Drop Bears

I'm wondering if they've reduced the toxins, chemicals, etc. in flysprays to be more environmentally friendly or less allergenic. Can anyone confirm?

I have some Raid I bought last year in Cambodia that works well!

Also all summer we had the 'natural' Raid Automatic going and that was very effective.

E3xtc: best thing I have ever run into for the fight against flies - Zap Bat....electric fly swot - quick and painless (for me)...plus a certain amount of satisfaction from the smoke and light show :)
Have not used fly sprays in the 4-5 years of having this device :)

+1 on these electric tennis rackets.

Jolly amusing when the Mrs picks it up by the wrong end, too. (I didn't hear the end of that for days!)

I have tried one of the above and found that neither the house flies that endlessly zig zag in the centre of the room or mosquitoes showed any interest. The light just attracted moths. Mozzies apparently need a CO2 source to attract them.

BTR: Cats, mine wait until they are on a window or low surface and them pin them down with their paws before eating them. A bit gross to watch but it does the trick.

+1 for the electric bats here too.
I've got 2 different ones, the bottom one in the pic is the standard mitre10 jobby (runs off 2x AA). The top one is a larger\ more solid one that uses 2x D cell batteries.

The big daddy one is also quite lethal (short video below with sound). If you press the GO button with nothing in the mesh it will remain charged until something discharges it (highly recommend fingers stay away from it in this state, it more than tickles).
