There is something wrong in the universe though, the BLACKCAPS and WARRIORS are both doing well.

Not sure NZ, let alne the universe can contain that much awesome.

Things always look bad here when you view NZ inc through online news sites if you're living elsewhere on the globe.
Unless we're winning in the rugby or Americas cup; which lets the press show the owsumeness of middle earth; we're portrayed as unfocussed lemmings looking for a reason to swarm.

We don't get hurricanes, minimal small, rare tornadoes. No man eating animals, no snakes, not even sure if there is a lethal spider here. No one wants to invade or terrorise us.
Taking political news with a grain of salt, I think we are pretty well ok here, the size and remoteness has benefits.

I am the opposite (Kiwi living in Oz).

Not sure where the OP is coming from, and NZ is looking pretty good at the moment. Economy seems to be ticking along nicely, and while I have a number of gripes with the current National government, compared to the situation in Australia, NZ is looking pretty good!
