I love all the comments this topic has garnered but it misses the main point

That there is a simple solution to the problem

use a similar postcode system as in the uk

S*** we only have just over 4 million people it can be that hard

Ok bad idea suggesting we use a proven UK system ..... hmm lets try this

Introduce a uniqie identifier for every delivery address in the country call it KIWISMART!!

I use PtP so it doesn't matter for me, but I did happen to see this on the TM message boards today...

GEEEEEEZ thanks for that its incredible although it does emphasis might point the need to put the different couriers on there is that they have different interpretations of Rural

Postcodes are hopeless in NZ because hardly anyone uses them. A new system with new codes was introduced a few years ago, but you have to go onto their clunky website to find them, and hardly anyone remembers them or uses them. Also they are only unique to NZ post, as couriers don't use them.
