I wear an Icebreaker merino top under my shirts (unless it's summer). I get those washed once every couple of days as they don't seem to smell that bad. The shirts though are washed every day - cotton is not as good as wool for smells.

And please do not use artificial fibres. They don't help with evaporating sweat. It's cotton or cotton.

Just picked up 2 at munns sale 50 and 70. Not the 4 for $200. Kirks sale some not as good as few yrs ago selection on sale. Farrys had nice hugo boss, not in mood thou. Normal priced stuff are not sharp and bold haha.

JimmyH: I wash after each wear. I have about 20 work shirts, so I tend to let the washed ones pile up and then do an ironing marathon every other week or so.

Ah, the ironing marathons. Good time to catchup on TV Series via Netflix.

Now I show how cheap I really am...

I wash any shirt I wear every day, and they get biffed as soon as they grubby or holy or the button falls off and no matching spare is attached to a label somewhere inside.

HOWEVER, since my shirts average $3-$5 from an OP shop (my wife's fanatically passionate about getting a 'deal') I worry not and move on easily :)

And I challenge anyone to spot my barely-used 2nds as opposed to your $50-$70-on-special ones :D

Mine get washed after 1 days of use, by Bill my drycleaner who also irons them.

I have about 10 business shirts in active roatation, and a bunch more that I don't really wear anymore because I no longer like the look.

When one wears out or starts to look a little rough I just replace it, but having 10 or so in rotation means that any one shirt seems to last a few years.

Just not clothes as I can't tell which ones were worn by ex alive people (you know, no one lives forever)

Well, I guess there is that... They do get 'nuked' then frozen, then hot washed (hot if possible, dbl cold washed if not) before we use them as my wife is more worried about what they might come 'with' too...

But then, she does the same with new clothes too (socks undies and modern fashions led buys) so..,

@OP how often do you wash things you buy BEFORE you wear them?

New items I wear without washing. After the first wear I wash them. Shirts I wash after 1 day. We do daily laundry here. Well my folks do, my dad is a cleaning freak. The kitchen floor gets mopped almost daily here. I don't wear my nicer shirts often though.

I replace my polo shirts about once a year (currently, I only wear polo shirts). I discovered that NZ is not a good place to buy polo shirts, if you want more variety, go somewhere hot and you'll have much more choice in terms of patterns (and also pockets - I only buy polo shirts that have pockets).

I was in Kuala Lumpur and you could buy Polo Sport (Ralph Lauren) for like $40NZ. I thought it was fake and had to check with a Malaysian work colleague - LOL. Here they're probably RRP $160.

Do you wash your jeans every 8 hours? What about your bedsheets?

"Perspiration Problem" = normal adult male sweat?

Yea, 8 hours work makes me sweat more than a good AntiPersperant can 'cover' so daily cleansing of clothes and body is required.

"Worlds resources" you mean the rain off my roof and the hydroelectric power of the river nearby (Waikato)?

NZ is one of the few countries that this truly is able to be a non issue...

I've found upper body perspiration is greater than lower body perspiration. Also upper body areas are closer to my (and worse, other peoples) nose than lower body areas. As for bedsheets, I've found they have a bit of a smell in the morning, but that's before I shower. I tend to reserve the world's resources by not washing jeans until they have visible stains.
