benokobi: I've seen breaking bad. And this is confusing. Also.. What is wrong with his father?

The guy (Chuck) is actually his older brother who is also a lawyer, Chuck is a founding member of the law firm Saul visits during the episode. Chuck seems to be mentally ill and is not working at the firm because of it.

From what I have read online people have guessed that Saul is trying to cash out Chucks share of the company ($17m) because he sees Chuck wont recover from his illness and wont return to the firm, Saul also needs money since he's dirt poor. The law firm wont allow Saul to cash out Chuck's share of the business since it's cheaper to pay Chuck his salary, however there may be another motive here we just have to wait and see.

That's how slang works.

Usually it has some basis in sense. Neither of those words seem remotely related to the definition at all.

I hope the program was less confusing.

Another episode tonight, thoroughly enjoyed the first ep and had pieced together what was written above. Wasn't sure if chuck was his father or brother but both work, can clearly see he wants that payout.
End of the episode at the house, who was it that steps out, he looked familiar and im sure he has was in BB but i couldn't place him.

Pretty sure at the end it was tuco? From breaking bad, the crazy mexican guy whose aprtment/house walt blew up with explosive meth.
I do think this series couod be fantastic, with nods to breaking bad and a few side stories involving BB characters as well.
Looking forward to seing more.

However good, it's unlikely to be a match for Breaking Bad, and I'm not sure I want to sully my memory of BB with watching a lesser spin off ... might have to wait until more reviews are in.

That makes not the slightest sense to me....! How on earth you could make those words mean that I simply cannot see.

I think we should have a National Slap an American Day, with ruining a perfectly good language being just one of the reasons. I started watching American Chopper a few years ago, and couldn't work out why they were saying 'That is totally sick man' about a nice piece of work. Then there are all those 'people of color' which hate to be 'dissed', while they make rap songs that 'feat' other artists. It always seems to me that the harder people demand to be 'respected' the lower their self esteem must be.

OK they take some liberties over in Oz, but at least they are funny.

always thought breaking bad was hugely over-rated but gave the first episode of bcs a look.

Inphinity: I've wondered the same. Might check it out if watching Breaking Bad isn't an absolute prereq. As an aside, how far in do you have to watch until Breaking bad becomes interesting? I am a few episodes through season 2, and I would rather watch infomercials at this point, it is terrible.

I had a similar issue and stopped watching for a while, as season 2 can be a bit of a drag. But from season 3 onwards it just becomes the best TV show I have ever seen. The writing, character development, humor is all excellent.

I'm yet another BB watcher stuck in the mire that is season two. We're about half way through (if that) season two, but have been stuck there for about six months. We loved season one but there's something not quite right or as involving with the following season. Based on others reporting the same feeling, and that it improves, we must give it another go, and will try to do so before watching BCS.

They do it here too of course, turning 'all over the shop' into 'all over the show' and so on. And don't get me started on 'manchester' instead of 'linen'!

I ended up reading the season 2 guide to not miss out on any of the main story and started fresh from season 3. You will get rewarded by the best finale ever. Perfect ending of a TV show. I thought I would be sad that the show ended, but was very happy with it. The whole story comes to a conclusion in a single episode. Well thought out.

Think of "break bad" as "break out bad". Makes much more sense.
