so will i then only accept funds transfer - if it's funds transfer surely it won't be reversed unlike credit card?

Negative feedback for being a timewaster and if they give you it back contact trademe and say it's retaliatory feedback and they will remove it

Trademe don't always remove retaliatory feedbacks. They don't have access to the BS that some buyers spout to sellers.

IMO this is why messaging should be done on trademe so they have access to the messages when deciding things like that. As it is people are always BSing you about not getting emails or "I sent you an email it must be in your spam" etc.

IMO this is why messaging should be done on trademe so they have access to the messages when deciding things like that. As it is people are always BSing you about not getting emails or "I sent you an email it must be in your spam" etc.

Also potentially emails are a security and privacy issue, as say an account had been hacked, then the hacker at the end of the auction would be getting my personal name and bank account details, and I may have emailed them my address too. Their system isn't great.

I had one person who bought something from me ten years ago and kept me waiting. The first email asked if I'd accept payment in instalments. The next ones they said payment was made but I never saw any money. When I posted a feedback saying transactions was never completed I received a bad feedback (the only one in my account) from them.

Obviously it looks bad if people don't bother reading the actual story and just look on the smiley/angry faces.

When Trademe last appeared on Fair Go, they did say that they would remove any retaliatory feedback that was placed if it was reported to them. So maybe they have changed their position on it.

If you have done a few auctions, when you go to your auction after sale now you can relist or make a fixed price offer to other bidders right away, in case the winning bidder defaults. You can also apply for a refund of the success fee. They say after 3 days but I recently had a trader contact me immediately with a "whoops we live in Nelson!" (the item was a couch) and I just attached an image of the email to the contact. They refunded my success fee right away.

So yes it's a time waster but it's not that bad and they make it pretty easy to set things right.

The bank will still reverse it, I was at the post shop trying to pay for the courier to send an iPhone I had sold on trademe when my card declined with "Contact Bank" and which my bank (ANZ) informed me that it was a fraudulant transaction and that ASB had reversed the transaction.

According to the police the person I had the address to send the phone to had gotten a job online getting paid to recieve packages and then ship them overseas.

Never had a bad feedback on my account thankfully.

Bought a computer from a company once, they gave me the runabout when I went to pick it up (it was faulty and had to hang around 30 minutes while they fixed it). Left bad feedback, got a snooty email saying to change it or they'll give bad feedback. They did. I think I forwarded the email to trademe who then removed both our feedback.

I havn't had to in a while, but ages ago I had a couple of auctions from people who had done numerous trades but had nothing but bad feedback. So I deleted their bids and blocked them. Not dealing with it, no point. I'm not sure if you can still do that though?
