It looks like Stargate is going to be rebooted at the movies. Should be interesting!

I watched the original movie with my daughter recently. It holds up really well. Can't see the need for a remake, could spin something off the series though.

Lias: Non terrible versions of The Postman and Starship Troopers wouldn't go amiss either.

starship troopers was actually an excellent satire film.

(it took me several watches to figure it out - also , it's nothing like the book at all, than than some very vague character names so don't think of it as like that)

That's the problem with some of the Paul Verhoeven movies.  They are sold to the public as action movies so much that many people don't realise there is also really good satire underneath. (Robocop is another one like that)

I see there's another X Files movie on the way if everything falls into place.

Knight Rider for sure!  As for movies...Back to the Future!  I'd love to see a remake new version of that!

I love Kit!  My girlfriend had never seen Knight Rider (or Back to the Future for that matter).  I always wondered why my references seemed to go over the top of her head.

I'd like to see some sort of Quantum Leap spin-off, but not a remake.

And if that was successful they might remaster the original for blu-ray (including the original soundtrack - unlike the DVDs). It has very few special effects so probably wouldn't cost that much to remaster.

ilovemusic: how about stopping all the remakes/sequels/prequels and coming up with something new !

Hoofhaarted: Prefer to see something new, every movie is a remake, sequel, prequel, adaption of a book / comic .

That's great, but there's already an anti-remakes discussion here.

Let's try to keep this discussion on remakes you want to see please. wink

YESSSSSSS!

Actually there was talk of a BTTF IV, but it obviously hasn't happened unfortunately. Doesn't look like there's going to be a remake any time soon either.

The first Starship Troopers was amongst the funniest films I have seen in aeons. Jolly good action fun too. I think you have to make sure not to think they were supposed to be awesome scifi...

I love Heinlein, and in particular Starship Troopers was one of my favourite books of his. It helped shape many of my beliefs, and set the ground for my ongoing love of Military Scifi. The movie that shares it's name is an abomination.

ah,  Starship troopers the movie is basically a satire of Heinlan's book.  It's no wonder you don't like it.
