With the other thread about Bad Hollywood Remakes, how about some Movies/TV that you would like to see remade.
I will start it off by suggesting Blakes 7, some good dark Sci-fi, just don't have the same ending.....

The problem is that very often good early scifi gets absoutely ruined by modern film makers,

Case in point was "The Day the earth stood still" - Keanu just made a complete hash of it.

some recent adaptations of non film work such as "John Carter " and " Car of the worlds" all went down the " bigger explosions is better" route and suffered hugely.

I am looking forward to JMS's treatment of Forbidden planet (if it ever gets out of development hell)

Logans' Run or Soylent Green are probably due to be "rediscovered" by some studio exec in the next 10 years.

+1 for Blakes 7
Babylon 5 is another I would like to see something new, but perhaps Crusade/Rangers Spinoff rather than a remake, although I do want the original release with redone CGI so I can have it in Blu-Ray quality.

There is hope, the battle star galactica remake was pretty good.
Also maybe "misfits of science". My choices are probably making me look older than I really am.

I'd like to see a modern take on most 50's sci-fi classics...provided that they treat them with the respect they deserve.

+1 for Babylon 5, but I would rather see a remake because I'd be interested in seeing the Shadow Wars with modern CGI.
I loved Knight Rider as a kid, but it has already had a few failed remake attempts recently. The idea of a smart/talking car isn't exactly science fiction any more!
It looks like Stargate is going to be rebooted at the movies. Should be interesting!

maybe it's just me, but it seems like hollywood remakes of movies are typically terrible. (I don;t include marvel movies in this because superhero movies in the 80s were just awful - and the recent movies aren't remakes of those old movies, they are just different adaptations of comics)

But remakes of older TV shows are often considerably better than the original, or at the very least just as good.

e.g. BSG, House of Cards, Dr Who spring to mind as being as good, or better than the originals series.

Maybe it has to do with TV now being a good medium for drama and storytelling with quality actors and decent budgets,  whereas 20-30 years ago, TV actors were considered failures and Tv show budgets were miniscule.

Prefer to see something new, every movie is a remake, sequel, prequel, adaption of a book / comic .

Non terrible versions of The Postman and Starship Troopers wouldn't go amiss either.

The first Starship Troopers was amongst the funniest films I have seen in aeons. Jolly good action fun too. I think you have to make sure not to think they were supposed to be awesome scifi...
