I like the fact JC always said what he was thinking (well..as much as he could) on a family show, little bit un-PC, little bit racist etc but arent we all really ?

But getting physical was a mistake, but from what Ive read, I can understand to a degree why it happened but still a mistake.

I hope Hammond and May do stick with JC, the three of them bounce well off one another and that a new show does appear.

It is possible to have humour without xenophobia and racism. Also, there is examples of shows doing well when the presenters change, one that springs to mind is the Tonight Show.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Maybe he can have a chat with the High Court?

Taking a line from a previous thread, how can he be punished for something he has not been convicted of?  (ie. if it was an assault, why is it not being officially dealt with?)  Seriously though, it's an interesting parallel, given that he stands to (potentially) lose more than a chance to compete in a sporting event.  For the record, IMHO, the rowing "lads" totally deserve to be sent home and should consider themselves lucky at that, the parents owe the school a major apology, and I'll reserve my thoughts on the Clarkson fracas until all the facts are revealed (if ever).

Without Clarkson no Top Gear as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't watched any of the recent season but have been to TG Live and seen JC in person, his sense of humour is spot on, the magic wouldn't work without him.

BTR: New TG featuring Jay Kay, Chris Harris and Tiff?

Also why are people blaming the BBC, Clarkson is the one at fault he hit the producer and cause the issue in the first place. The BBC and probably stuck between a rock and a hard place, sack him and risk ruining TG or let him off with another final warning and risk being dragged into a union battle...

The BBC is a leftie organisation that will be delighted they got rid of Clarkson to be honest. I expect they have been gnashing their teeth for years trying to work out how.

They much prefer people who aligned with their agenda. He isn't.

Possible but not compulsory yet, fortunately.

I've worked on some TV programs before and the late filming days always result in fractious tempers - I have seen AD's ripping staff a new one in ways that make Gordon Ramsay look like the Pope.

To be honest, although smacking the staff is generally to be frowned on, the BBC is partly to blame because they should have ensured proper catering was available for everyone at whatever time they finished filming. As press reports have pointed out, the BBC is poor at looking after talent.

I have no doubt that JC will go off to Sky or somewhere and earn even more money.

I have not seen any comment in the press whether his production company which makes TG for the BBC will be affected by this or not. If not, he'll still be making money from TG without even needing to be on set! Brilliant.

I'm pleased they sacked JC. He was an immature disrespectful twat that has nobody to blame but himself. He has had so many warnings..yet he continued to act like a spoiled teenager.

Well done BBC.

It wasn't a mistake, he was drunk. Tried to make up once he was sober but damage was done
