Don't forget that one of the hosts is also part of that abominable show that's on immediately prior to Fair Go - I'd imagine that would mean the two sets need to be in the same building.

If TVNZ needed the studio space (and it doesn't) it's not going to pay for something it can get for free or cheap.
If it's not live, they could hire studio space and record it in peace fairly easily I would have thought.
They could, but like I said - a producer probably thought it would look great shot at Spark. A busy background is better than a plain background. A larger set is better than a broom closet. Whatever the drawback of shooting at Spark, they've obviously decided is outweighed by the benefit compared to shooting at TVC in a studio.
