Just noticed that the studio has been replaced with "standing around in the foyer whilst people wander in and out of camera".

I'm wondering in what way this is supposed to be a good idea?!

I must have missed that; it still seems like an odd choice though: there are plenty of suitable spaces they could have turned into a temporary studio rather than doing it in the cafe or lobby!

I don't see the issue with it, those segments typically only take a few minutes each week.

Th TVNZ building is undergoing major renovations..... Im assuming that studio space is at a premium hence the use of a foyer.

It is part of the TVNZ rebuilding programme to accommodate extra space for new convention centre. TVNZ sold off part of its land for this purpose and hence required some substantive changes to be made to existing spaces. Don't understand the fuss.

The control room is being upgraded, but the studio itself is still available. It's where they do the news. And there's an empty studio right next door to that. I suspect that some producer just thought it would look cool if they shot at Spark.

They were probably running out of ideas to make the show less watchable - they already canned any remotely interesting parts of the program, may as well make the presentation of their rubbish less watchable too.

Yes, it does make it less watchable.

If studio space was an issue, there are loads of photographic studios they could have hired in Auckland, stuck a set in and it would have looked pretty much the same as usual!

Really? Those sections done in the foyer make up less than 3 minutes of the show

Yeah, forced to sell without consultation - part of the wider f-up that was the Sky City convention centre deal...

Don't forget that one of the hosts is also part of that abominable show that's on immediately prior to Fair Go - I'd imagine that would mean the two sets need to be in the same building.

Fair Go isn't live.

If TVNZ needed the studio space (and it doesn't) it's not going to pay for something it can get for free or cheap.

If it's not live, they could hire studio space and record it in peace fairly easily I would have thought.

Why hire when they have got free space? TO be honest, I hardly noticed, and the purpose of the presenters in this show are minimal anyway. I think they could also almost do without them. Target was essentially the same type of show, but they didn't have a set .

Would it change your life if they did that? Honestly how is this even a topic worth discussing?
