sbiddle: There are *lots* of providers out there all offering similar services these days. Looking at that product it doesn't look great from a pricing perspective, and obviously doesn't offer data.

At the end of the day it's really going to depend what your requirements are and what countries you're visiting. If data is all you're after Globalgig are great, you can get 3GB for $50 for a month across the US and most of Western Europe.

If you have a mix of data and calls and are only visiting a handful of countries moving to Vodafone is always an option as their roaming is vastly superior to Spark.

Any idea which carrier networks Globalgig use? I'm traveling around Iceland and a few other countries around that area and I know that not all carriers have that great coverage in a place like Iceland.

Edit: actually, looking at their pricing I think I'd be better off just buying a SIM when I arrive in each country on the carrier with the best coverage/deals. For instance in Iceland I can get a SIM with 1GB/100 minutes/100 SMS for $28 NZD on the network with the most coverage.

Yes, while local SIMs are cheaper, I don't have much time in each city and so time is of the essence.

OK, an update. I have decided to go with Global Gig. Unfortunately SIMs aren't unavailable locally so I am asking a friend to get one from DSE in Aussie.

From the reviews, seems like Global Gig is the way to go for Europe. The key is making sure the device it is using supports the correct frequencies.

They used to provide wifi hotspot devices. Now they solely provide SIMs for use in your own network capable device.

I'm using Globalgig in the USA at the moment. It is quite slow, even on AT&T HSPA+. I'm hopeful this won't be the case later in the year when I use it in Asia/Europe/UK.
