Not junkie but I do like to be offered updates promptly, sadly for some devices update time frames are terrible.

I am both. Things that I need to work for me do not get updated. I dont even do windows updates if I am in the middle of getting things done because that PC doesnt really ever see the internet. I do browsing and stuff on a remote desktop from it to another one. I wont update phones etc if I am needing to use it in the near future.

Something that many people I know do is rush into updates and then find they break and they need the machine to work for a deadline.

2 - A standard Jim that is happy to use what they have and update a month after a release is out to see how it all goes first.

I thought I was an update junkie but when I take stock I have 4 PCs that are capable of Windows 10 but are still on 7, an iPad 2 still on iOS 7 and various android devices spread from 4.1.2 to 5.1 (although some of those are on custom roms).

I have given up pestering about the latest android update for my daily driver because I would rather someone else be the beta tester for the new software. The last time I was really agitated about an update (as my quasi rants in the forum will attest) were the update to get rid of the three dot menu when HTC ditched it as a physical button, which took months for Telecom to test and approve.

Other stuff like TVs, Amps and Players and Routers etc can all wait at least a month before being done. As in some of the earlier posts I have been burnt enough times in the past to not sit on the bleeding edge where everything has to be had RFN.

4. Old-fashioned, distrustful of anything new due to bad experience every time I do try anything new. How many times have PCs crashed because of a Windows or driver update? I hate things jumping up on my screen when I'm trying to do something else and I'm on a data cap so keep all software updates turned off. When I think about it and feel the need, I do them manually. When something works well for me and I'm used to it, I don't see a need to 'improve' it. That is why I still use XP on my main browsing computer, though I do have Win7 and 8.1 on other machines. I also have an Android tablet that isn't useful for much.

I have been a software developer/designer for a lot of years and have various Windows machines around the house and all except one run Win XP SP3. That one runs Win7.

You guys who are 1 or 2 are either crazy or easily sold to (ie conned).

Yeah I'm an update junkie except my current phone (Samsung Galaxy A3) doesn't have any form of modding community :(

This thread just reminded me to see if there's a new firmware for my vacuum cleaner... I haven't checked in over a month.

Edit: there was. :D

Cautious updater after being burnt by android app updates where features were removed or layout changed to look pretty but worse usability.

Thing that annoys me is I haven’t worked out how to turn off updates for particular apps. ie I continue to get nagged to update and I have in the passed accidentally clicked update when I was avoiding it because of reviews of "Improved apps"

Yeah, the latest update lets you do the dishes at the same time as the vacuuming. Amazing technology. tongue-out

I wouldn't download the latest wife firmware if I was you. There's a bug in it.

If you try to use the TV remote while Coronation Street is on she hits you over the head with a hammer.

Update Junkie myself which is  hard when there are still servers running 2003 / 2008 at work and I can't just simply upgrade them to the latest OS.
