JayADee: Oh yes, not happy about the hat. Should have bought a new one.

I forgot about that, that hat looked terrible on Raylan. Also a little creepy that he takes it off they guy he just killed and then wears it for the rest of his life (or 4 years at least).

The best finale was the one with the "big-toothed albino-looking son of a b*tch" with the "big stupid baby head".

Justifed was a gem. It was well written and had a great cast.

Over the whole series, I can't recall a crappy episode. Always quality.

I won't explain my view of the final scene. But, I don't think it was that friendly:)

It was a good ending.

Dingbatt: I watched seasons 1 to 6. And thought the finale was fitting. But 6 seasons was enough. The story lines becoming familiar with outsiders coming in and trying to take over the county. However, the threaded storylines of individual characters that stretched right back to season one held things together.
I will admit I sat down to watch the final episode with a bit of a sense of foreboding. The introduction of a young gunfighter midway through the final season had me convinced that the finale was going be just that for Raylan. And even with the 4 year epilogue scene in Miami I was half expecting Boyd to somehow show up.
Some of the characters exited sooner than in earlier seasons with Dickie Bennett the first to go really early. And even Katherine and Mikey, unless the finale was run as a double episode in the US.
Once the action was all over with 20 minutes still to go I did wonder how they were going to wrap things up. But I thought they did quite a good job of 'completing the circle' with storylines of Boyd and Ava.
So the finale left me feeling not happy, sad or shocked but satisfied.

Edit: I could comment on the subplots of Loretta, Wynn Duffy and the Deputy Chief that were concluded as well, but enough is enough.

I liked how they left Wyn Duffy.

He could have walked away with all the money.. possibly.

I think a good ending shouldn't reveal everything.

So true! That new hat really did not suit him (or his style) at all. It worked well on Boon (the "creepy guy") as it added nicely to his creepiness.

At least with the 'years later' flash forward it didn't have them shacked up, so not fully sucrose "happy ending".

Yes, at least Raylan didn't have a syrupy ending. Did he really have to wind up in Florida? Ugh.

It's been a long time since I saw the beginning, but did he not start there and end up back in Kentucky for shooting someone?

Yes the first episode was him shooting someone questionably in Florida and getting relocated back to Kentucky to get him out of the cheifs hair in Florida.

jonathan18: I'd agree the final episode was a bit underwhelming - especially given it's been generally a terrific series (edit - terrific programme, ie overall across its six series) - but I think I'd rather have that than the finale of The Sopranos, which I believe was evidence of the writers trying to crawl up their own orifices (which they'd already been doing for the last season or two)...

Me thinks perfect ending to Sopranos. Nicely signalled by Bobby's line a few episodes earlier, when talking about death ... at the end you probably wont hear anything, everything will just go all blank.

The final scene with Wynn, Mikey and Catherine in the Winnebago was pure Justified gold.

Unusual for a show that regularly dispensed with characters along the way, for all the main cast to remain standing at the end of the final episode. Great last season - ridiculous plot, but then Justified has always been the strength of characters - and this last season continued the great work of previous five, loading double cross on top of double cross.

At the end of season five, everything was deliberately pointed to a Raylon/Boyd showdown in the finale. But maybe Raylon killing Boyd, or Boyd killing Raylon would have been a little easy and cliched. Great last line.
