I was intrigued, but not even the slightest blown away. Maybe 6 episodes is all we will get at this rate.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

They will give it a full season I believe. It's ok, not amazing, I suspect it will get better.

I'm with Nathan on more about the origins, but I suspect there are some flashbacks coming.

jaidevp: I was hoping for the story to begin and elaborate more on the virus origin before getting into the zombie fest..

I don't ever want to know the origin of the virus nor do I want a cure on the horizon.

I liked the new series.  A few things bugged me, like Cliff found splattered brains all over the church yet didn't call the cops.

They kind of waved the seriousness off by saying that kind of thing always happens in abandoned churches.

based on viewing numbers i think it will get another season or 10 :)  Heres hoping, zombies are the highlight of my TV viewing week.

They are so much cooler than vampires.

Looking forward to the return of iZombie too, another zombie show with a kiwi as the lead actor (do you say actor/actress for females these days?? actress is now sexist?).

Mm, a bit slow, annoying characters, an occasional bit of jarring writing (the aforementioned church scene, the messed up junky kid suddenly getting it together long enough to mow down the ex-dealer). Hope it improves. The regular The Walking Dead is one of my all time favourite shows.

The writers have said that they don't plan on showing anything about the origins of the virus/plague.

They idea is to show the fall of society, but once they catch up to the time period where TWD starts, isn't it going to be the same show just with different characters?

Yeah, inappropriate character behavior. I was most confused by Cliff and the mothers reaction to him repeatedly running over the drug dealer - no one knows that they are zombies at this point. Sure, he attacked them, but he had just been shot (and should they really just trust what the junkie is telling them about the circumstances of the shooting) - he then ran over him twice (or was it 3 times?).

But also - Cliff not calling cops about church, the mother/teacher giving (what appears to be) a very unstable kid a free pass about bringing a knife to school.

I read in an episode recap article that the second series (15 or 16 episodes) had already been given the green light.

I agree with what others have said about the pace of the first episode. It would have been fine if we were looking at a 12+ episode series (and I had the next episode queued up and ready to go), but for one sixth of the current series it was just too slow burning. I was left wanting more, which is a good sign, but given how little 'more' there is - they could have used that time better.

Good old Cliff Curtis and his non-race face. Anyone know what race his character is meant to be?

Me too. I watched the pilot for Minority Report the other night and it made me wistful for iZombie. Minority Report just felt like it was trying too hard, but iZombie is firmly tongue (and brain) in cheek.

His characters name is Travis Manawa, so I think might actually be Maori.

Awesome - he is too. That's cool to see them breaking some stereotypes! (i.e. no moko or haka... yet).

"The casting call for this character used the name Sean Cabrera."

Yeah, Maori which is cool. A haka at the zombies would be pretty funny.

I wasn't blown away and if this wasn't a spin off I doubt the series would even be picked up

Annoying characters and boring drama at the start 4 out of 10
