This isn't the link to that story, but I did read this one

Looks like there maybe some good sales coming up. Their problems are really that they moved from a geek type brand where you could buy a lot of electrical stuff (quite high margins too), into a very limited toaster type shop, with a very narrow range of products and brands, and a lot of house branded stuff.

There's a Dick Smith thread that needs to be opened for the 'doom and gloom' stories...
Interesting that the CEO is reportedly stepped down, especially as one of his relatives is in charge of brining a lot of their goods in, directly out of China.
I bet suppliers are worried about not getting paid. Hopefully the good staff keep their jobs...

As requested, for anything related to the impending Doom... please use this previous Dick Smith thread.

Worth checking out this site again for all the latest December posts about click and collect in Oz.    Seems their customers are even more unhappy.

They now have a rating of 1.7 from 636 people. Of the last twenty ratings 18 people give them 1 star out of five. Zero not being an option.

I did a click and collect during the week. Went through swiftly without any problems.
Completed the online purchase just after 5pm. Got a text later that evening to advise part was available. Went to shop about 10am next morning.
I was in and out of the shop in about two minutes.
I did check that the DSE branch had the part in stock, before online purchase.

The only suggestion I have would being able to get the deal directly from the shop if they have stock, without having to go online.
Apart from that I am happy with the process.

I was a David Reid customer before Dick Smith bought the retail side out in 1992. I only spend a fraction of what I used to spend with them since they changed from being an electronics supplier. They never seemed to be able to compete with Noel and Harvey. Jaycars have done very well out of Dickies change of direction.
