Didn't there use to be another version of Voltron that was made up of 25 smaller craft, as opposed to the 5 lions?

Yeah, "Voltron of the Near Universe" or "Vehicle Voltron". 15, I think though. Wasn't nearly as good. IIRC, some US studio bought three or four separate Japanese series involving combining robots, stripped out all the violence and Japanamisms, redubbed them and retconned them into a single Universe. Needless to say, there were some continuity errors.

Yes, just looked it up. Haven't seen any Voltron since I was a kid, might have to give this new one a go.

I don't like it

 

The old voltron (1980's one and the 2011 one) still makes my skin tingle when they form Voltron, this new one just doesn't do it at all.
