The King of Kong is an oldie but a goodie:

Obsession and the pursuit of excellence push diehard gamers to break World Records on classic arcade games like Q*bert, Joust, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong. The film follows a middle school science teacher as he battles a hot sauce mogul for the Guinness World Record on the arcade classic Donkey Kong.

Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all...

JayADee: I'm watching that history of NZ houses on TVNZ on demand called The NZ Home. Good so far.

I stumbled across this by accident> I had initially thought it was yet another home renovation show, but it's actually really interesting. Certainly taught me things I never knew about the style and construction of houses in NZ through the years.

I thought I'd already posted on this thread but can't find it (but apologies if this is a double up).

Just finished Seven Wonders of the Industrial World on Netflix NZ. Not exactly a documentary so much as a historical reconstruction - I was taken aback in the first couple of minutes - but really really good.

I watch loads of them on Sky all the time.

Barbarians Rising was good, a few I have heard of, and seen other docos about, a few I had not.

The Scheme Episode 1

A series about inter-generational dysfunctional families on a Scottish council estate. It's not hard to see why these kids grow up to emulate their parents. yell

For 80s-90s WWF/WWE fans, Brett Hitman Hart's Wrestling With Shadows is great, and freely available from the Canadian Film Board: https://www.nfb.ca/film/hitman_hart_wrestling_with_shadows/ . All about the Montreal Screw Job.

Jake the Snake Roberts has a new one in Netflix too. It's on the to watch list.

The last 2 posts just reminded me of "Bigger, Stronger, Faster"  "Trophy Kids" and "Prescription Thugs".

All great docos by Chris Bell, who is partially a subject in 2 of them.

The Jake The Snake on is on my watchlist.

All great docos. Mark and Chris Bell have been on Joe Rogan's podcast twice.

If you're interested in doping, this is the best interview with Lance Armstrong out there. Best in the sense that questions aren't approved etc, it's just a conversation with him about his doping. Again it's Joe Rogan's podcast.

Just watched Apex yesterday, great doco about hypercars and their designers. Boom, Bust Boom with Terry Jones about the history of bubbles and crashes in capitalism. Dis Honesty, the truth about lies was great too. Dan Ariely is fascinating to listen to and has some great insights into human nature. I enjoyed the history of maths as well and also the secret rules of modern living: algorithms, both of which feature Marcus du Sutouy. All of them are on Netflix NZ.

That's where I first heard of them.

I remember that one. Amazingly candid interview. Joe Rogan didn't beat around the bush either.
