Comer: "reluctant to say that the boys were out of line"

There's the problem right there. That's exactly what she should be addressing and there is no sign of it.

Flexman: "You have got to remember this is one person's accusation and her standing in the community and culpability is not beyond reproach,"

Really no meaningful apology has occurred on that one either. That guy should go immediately.

Also, clearly there is no sensible response at the team level so suspend the chiefs from the competition immediately until there is. It could take a while.

I'd loved to see this but it just won't happen. And this little sordid affair has actually made international news. Thanks, idiots. The rest of NZ is grateful.

Sigh

The Chiefs should be suspended for the first 5 matches of the 2017 season following a formal hearing.

In addition Super Rugby (SANZAAR) should initiate termination of the Chiefs's sponsor relationship with Gallagher. I expect there is a clause for that.

Good grief. Hung drawn and quartered before the verdict is in. Sounds Kiwi to me.

Discussing punishment before even hearing the other side of the story or waiting for an investigation. Wow.

There have certainly been some extremely poorly chosen communications on the part of the Chiefs team and sponsors though, surprising really given the oversight NZRU has on many of these Franchises.

It is called having a brain fart. You say something that you never intended to say, perhaps due to fatigue, or not being used to being interviewed in that type of situation etc. Potentially we all do it from time to time. She has realized what she said was wrong and apologized, so it is something the media should move on from.

I agree, nothing else should be said or done until an investigation is complete.

It amazes me that some here thought it was ok a cop left a loaded gun in a parliament bathroom, thought "accidents happen" and then are calling for resignations, suspensions and worse, over the fact comments were made and the apology given wasn't to the standard it should have been.

I think what you mean to say is :

Given that in NZ presumption of innocence is the basis of our justice system, and in moving forward in the fairest way, pending an investigation, IF the Chiefs have been found guilty of the accusations being made against them then.....

The issue I am responding to is unacceptable comments from the ceo and a major sponsor.

Whatever occurred, those comments were just the pits and all in all it looks like a rudderless ship. They need to find a rudder before they do more damage. Imho it merits strong action. It looks like a broken culture and the response so far has not addressed that. I think you will find a good chunk of supporters will also want some action to be taken about these comments.

The incident(s) that sparked this, yes I agree let the police conclude their investigation(s). At some point NZRFU will weigh in also. Some where in there Chiefs (maybe new) management will make decisions about actions of individual players.

It has not been established yet, that a victim actually exists!

A national rugby team, role models to young kids, ordered a stripper in. They did the same thing last year. What other side of the story is it that you are missing?

You have been challenged at lesst three times by myself and gzt to identify what an investigation is going to achieve insofar as the utterly unacceptable statements by Comer are concerned. All you are doing is repeating over and over ad nauseum that there should be an investigation. Insofar as the substantive allegations by the stripper is concerned, that is correct. But it doesn't follow from this that Comer was in any way justified in responding to the allegations as she did and to further insult and demean the victim with her pathetic apology.

The fact that you have shown no significant sign of having any sensitivity to this is rather appalling. This kind of attitude is nothing less than a form of enabling of the kind of attitude Comer displayed.

Edit: Given that you maintain there is no victim here, you clearly don't think Comer's words have had an impact on the complainant. I sincerely hope I am not the only person disgusted by your views.
