I loved his songs when young and had no problem with the questions Toni asked him.  Personally I think he should be denied entry.  He was sentenced to 15 months jail for false imprisonment and assault back in 2008/2009. For goodness sake he secured the guy then beat him with chain. Very serious assault. Havent looked to see how much time he served but no way should he be allowed in here

I have not seen the clip, but I'll comment anyway.

First of all - it is already a sad day when the 7pm news programme asks tougher questions of visiting celebrities than our own politicians.

Maybe it's that kind of show but maybe the answer to that one is give Street the politicians and let Hosking handle the celebrities.

The original issue, Boy George appears to have been organising practically kidnapping a model with who he had a disagreement earlier then chaining the model to a wall, threatening with sexual implements, and beating with a chain while escaping:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/archives/news/937243/boy-george-ruined-my-life-and-never-said-sorry-the-bbc-should-be-ashamed-says-man-singer-held-hostage-and-beat/

I agree with the point made by the victim that if the model was a woman there would be no way George would ever get a job with the BBC like he did on The Voice. Well, one would assume so given the whole Jimmy Saville scandal etc. George has never apologised to the victim personally etc or shown any remorse so far for his actions.

Fully legitimate question from Street.

( Remembering I've not seen the clip at all yet ; )

Surely that depends on whether he wants to visit or move here?

If he paid his debt, should it follow him around forever? I can't see what it has to do with whether he can spend a week in Queenstown or whatever.

Obviously if he wants to move here, then yes he should be denied. Got enough crims of our own.

The coverage I saw (twice - once on Seven Sharp and again on a later news show) went something like this (words are not exact quotes, just the gist of what I remember):

INTERVIEW FOOTAGE:
Tony Street: Blah blah blah [question about the visa issues]
Boy George: Blah blah blah [pretty good answer about regretting doing bad things when he was suffering from alcoholism and other addictions]

CUT AWAY TO STREET DOING FILL-IN FOOTAGE AFTER THE INTERVIEW:
Tony Street: Then I asked him another question ... this was after I'd already asked one question which he'd answered ...

CUT BACK TO INTERVIEW FOOTAGE:
Boy George: Why don't you ask about something positive? In fact... [gets up, takes off mic/ear piece, leaves]

But we didn't actually see/hear Street's second question. It was cut out and replaced with the to-camera fill-in piece. Made me wonder whether maybe the follow-up was a bit over the top, or judgemental, which is why George took offence and TV One didn't air it. Does anybody know exactly what it was?

I could swear that the original report I read said something different.  I thought she asked him a question about a distant past event, to which he expressed something to the effect that he just want to leave that issue behind him, then she followed up with another question about the same event.

Now I cannot find a single reference to that on the web any more.
