PaulBags: I wish someone else did turkish delight & cherry flavours.
I've had real turkish delight before, but I don't even know where to find it :/.
Cadbury Turkish Delight is gelatine/jelly whereas real turkish delight is cornflour-based.
I know where to find it in Wellington. Cash-and-carry warehouses like Moore Wilson and Davis Trading have imported boxes. I prefer the nut versions like pistachio. It's also made in NZ at http://www.loukoumi.co.nz/ 6 Centennial Hwy, Ngauranga, Wellington 6035.
Edit: I should have added that is not very hard to make yourself. I used to make it myself along with nougat/torrone (again nut filled) and all sorts mediterranean variants of such sweets. Making them yourself gives you a lot more control over the softness and texture.

. . . . Largest issue has been since letting australia and England make the products. Not to mention lowering portion sizes while not the cost etc. When it was made here, it was done so for kiwis. Now we are struck with the same export market mix that the rest of the world enjoys better.
Cadbury Roses are still made in Dunedin. In fact, I think it is one of the few things they still make there.

Marsh mellow products, Pebbles, Jaffas, maybe still Continental, milk chocolate for catering supplies, they also make and export crumb, sweetened condensed milk.. Chocolate Bars moved to Ozzy, and Eggs moved to England. As others have said, the palm oil thing didn't last very long.
The problem as I understand it with making Chocolate in Ozzy is they have to change the formula to raise the melting point and you no longer get that melt in your mouth thing happening.
When I worked there as a contractor the 3 floor office was full, by the time i left 2 years later there was hardly anyone working there outside of production....then it got sold to Kraft.

But be careful: I bought a "tub" of them last year and they were made in the UK! The 225g boxes are still made here though.

It was a NZ-made box that prompted me to start this thread. In this case, NZ-made is no longer a good thing.

I should clarify: In my opinion the UK-made ones tasted worse than the NZ ones.

It sounds like that after reducing the amount of sugar consumed that ones tastebuds have just woken up a bit and the taste of sweet stuff has become more intense.
