I have you covered, a great cut will cost you $10:

Alert Barber
Barber Shop · Mount Eden

Tell them Big Dave sent you and he'll sneak you a whisky.

Doh, didnt tell him until after I had paid haha. No issue, only one minor issue with my fringe which all of them get wrong with my hair. Otherwise for $10 his clipper skills to a fade were good. Better than the $25 I normally spend.

Im thinking about just going clipper all over during summers, Im not really a hair product kind of man and a pair of ok clippers pay for themselves in a couple of months.

Cheers for the assist Dave, scored a try for sure.

Just followin this up now Im out of Auck. Got my 3rd cut with him last week and hes bang on with his clipper fades. Ive had worse, much worse fades for $60. Admittedly I go from a 0-2mm on top fade, so how hard can it be ;-p. Suits my bulldog looks and the Mrs hates it which gives me leverage.

All in all a good guy to chat to while getting a cheap cut, a barber with good ethics listening to why he keeps his prices down.

Disclaimer: If you are overtly metro and he messes up your Bieber cut dont blame me or him.

1998 was almost 20 years ago. Hairdressers in Wellington charge $40 to $60 for a standard mens cut, barbers can be had for significantly less, but don't tend to take bookings and I'm impatient.

If you go out to the Hutt there are many in the $15-$25 range, and you can usually just walk straight in. Even with hairdresser when you book a time, you often have to wait anyway, so don't see that as much of an advantage.

Mines not in AKL but charge $20 for a cut. Its a good old fashioned barber, no appointments first in first served, old style chairs as well!

$25 in AKL sounds cheap, if you want cheaper use a metal bowl and some kitchen scissors.
