mattwnz: A lot of stores are now doing their own schemes. I was sent a card without even signing up. The problem is that having lots of different cards and schemes not only adds bulk to the wallet, but it dilutes the ability for consumers to gain much advantage in being able to accumulate enough usable points in each scheme, before they expire. Yet the companies gain a lot from you on your buying habits. Therefore I decided to no longer bother with any of them.

Not to mention misinformation. When I used my Fly Buys card at New World just as Club Card was coming around, one of the staff told me that if I get a Club Card then I'd get extra discounts on promotional items, and that points would now be cumulative. Yet today's points summary shows that I've earned nowhere near enough for that to be the case - and after digging around on the site I found a footnote stating that a minimum $25 spend is required. Not impressed.

Never had any points expire, I just use it to get my coffee, as we got given a coffee machine thingie, and the coffee flybuys have just happens to be the one I quite like, i have about 3 days coffee left and I still need 9 flybuys point for the next coffee bag.

I use to get most of my flybuys by credit card.

Now the credit card does cash back or flybuys.

Cash back is $1 per $150 spent, fly buys when I devide points by price works out around 20
Cents a point, so at 1 point every $40 about 80 cents back for the $150.

So of course I went for cash back, as I can spend cash where ever I like, and the money doesn't
Self destruct After 3 years if not spent! So my fly buys card is useless now.
