I don't have much sympathy for him. I don't think he is a particularly sympathetic character, though he did have some amusement value for awhile.
He has certainly had his day in court and I think he has been very fairly treated by the judicial process. But I also think he was shamefully treated by the authorities. The manner of his arrest was a bad joke by monkeys in uniform tripping over themselves to impress the Americans, who attempted to railroad him in order to make an example of him to please Hollywood. The whole episode was and is a travesty of justice.
Dotcom is a legal resident of New Zealand. His company was located here for at least part of its existence. He should have been arrested and tried under New Zealand law and, if found guilty, sentenced in New Zealand. Otherwise the whole sorry episode should be brought to an end.
Dotcom is not being prosecuted for what he did, but for who he is and what he represents. You don't have to like him to be disgusted by this.
