I remember I was forbidden as doing it as a kid, although it wan't really that big back then.. I am surprised in this PC world, parents trust taking their kids to strangers houses getting sweets..is the risk part of the appeal? People who I know who do it, just take kids to houses who already have kids or they are friends with the owners, but it isn't really done much around where I live.

We've moved to a very family heavy area. There have been hordes of kids around tonight and our kids have had a ball. It's been fantastic.

Visited the Haunted Hogwart in Island Bay. Very well done by the community, raising funds for the Child Cancer Foundation. It was great.

Took granddaughter and friend to All Hallows Eve at Motat.

Excellent.

Then, as usual, decorated and handed out lollies to the polite, accompanied by an adult, cute dressed up kids that came.

Halloween is my beloved's birthday so I took her and her 12 closest female friends out for dinner at a nice restaurant she has always wanted to try.

Rikkitic:

Fortunately we live sufficiently isolated at the top of a high hill in rural farmland not to be affected by this American nonsense. If kids ever did show up at my door I would give them an apple and a toothbrush.

Don't know if it's available in NZ as I've never looked for it, but Boots in the UK sell laxative chocolate...
