Are you handing out lollies to the neighbourhood sprogs?

Hiding under the bed and pretending you're not home?

Heading to a party?

Getting dressed up?

Complaining in the comments of Stuff & NZHerald that its a silly USA thing only being pushed in NZ by the Warehouse to sell crap?

I'm torn between handing out lollies, and using the lolly money to take the family to the movies and watch Thor instead.

If I was getting dressed up, I'd just wear my normal work clothes and a nametag that says "That clown from IT"

I'll be taking my two older kids out for trick or treating because they've been talking about it for ages and will use any excuse to dress up. The neighbourhood kids all get together and only go to each others' houses so people that don't want to be involved aren't hassled (by us anyway). I was never allowed to be involved in it as a kid but I have no problem with the event now, a big percentage of our kids' heritage is Celtic.

I'll get some lollies to hand out if kids do come around. The vast majority of trick or treaters in my area only visit houses that are decorated though, and we follow the same rule with our kids. They love getting dressed up and going around... I'm all for anything to get them out of the house.

Kids dressing up and we'll probably hit "The Circle" in Manly. Quite a few houses there go all out for it :) However is a warning from one house this year advising young kids may get extremely scared, so sounds like someones gone overboard :D

Just a bit of fun, NZ is fully of grumpy depressed people who hate anyone else having a bit of fun.

However, we'll be taking the kids round the neighbourhood , they have some pretty cool costumes and the daughter is a budding special FX artist ...she does a mean zombie using tissue paper.

Reckon this is the only reasonable way to play it. Good for you!

I'll keep watching Paranormal Survivor on Netflix. In a nutshell, people sharing their spooky experiences.

I have lollies 'just in case'

However it is otherwise a normal night; make and eat dinner, takes dogs for walk, do exercise, watch either Netflix or YouTube, sleep

Fortunately we live sufficiently isolated at the top of a high hill in rural farmland not to be affected by this American nonsense. If kids ever did show up at my door I would give them an apple and a toothbrush.

Except it's Celtic, probably Irish in origin. The Americans of course commercialised the hell out of it.
