Jess and Sarah on the 3rd, Mary and Jess on the 4th.

No idea the point of these spams, but gmail is getting it right for once.

Last weekend I got an email from Sarah asking if I was in Glenfield. I hummed and hahed for a while, wondering if maybe this was some old school friend, but then realised I can't remember any Sarah from school and if it was real why didn't they put in more info, so I ended up just deleting it.

I've only ordered Dominos online a couple of times, and that was over 3 years ago.

Just checked my spam and there is one there from the 4th November from Sarah.  I would have expected a email from Doms saying there has been breach but can't seem to find any.  First i heard about it was from this thread.

Stu1: I have had two as well from Domino’s Upper Hutt, do I close down dominos account?

No, I mean the data in the breach is from whenever they got hacked back through to at least seven years ago, that is, i've seen people get emails with names/locations they used to order online at Dominos seven years ago, as well as names/locations they used a few months ago.

Quite sad that the company dont seem to be offering an apology or advice on this issue.

No point now as they already have your email. In the Stuff article they say they don't have passwords and credit card details though... but hmmm.

Just had a call from the bank pointing out fraudulent transactions on my debit card. Card's cancelled now but I have to wait up to 10 days for refunds of about $300. Funny thing is I don't use that card online for much else than Domino's. I got the spam from the breach so they leaked my email. I have zero evidence that my card leaked through Domino's but, as you say, hmmm....

Me:  I don't know any Mary, what are you talking about?

Wife: Mary just sent you an email, she must know you because she knows your name!

Me:  I don't know any Mary, it's probably just spam

Wife: You must know her, she even knows where you live!

Me:  Honest darling I have no idea who this Mary is or why she is trying to contact me, it's just junk mail, ignore it

Wife:  Hmmmm

I have been getting tehse emails too, and it can  only have been from this pizza companies data breech, as it knew my location. The emails were very creepy, as when you get an email that specifies your approx location, you wonder how they know this. What annoys me is that they didn't email me any information to say that they had had this breech. So I had to waste time researching why I was getting these emails. Has put me off buying from them again. Also blaming a third party supplier IMO isn't good, they should take ownership of the problem, because it was their choice to contract it out to a third party and customers didn't know their details were being handled in this way. IMO it is certainly not the way for a company to handle this sort of situation.

Interesting - I got a Mary email with just the name of my local Dominoes on the first. In it she said hi again,  used the location of my local dominoes

I wonder if it was a dominoes breach or from that prize contest that they have at the end of each order - I'm sure foolishly filled that in once in the last few years.

Good on Gmail for spotting it was spam though.

Those prize things at the end of purchases seem to be a way that businesses seem to generate extra revenue. Can't stand them myself, and I don't know why they would need to be provided with the location. It is getting a bit scary the info that companies are getting these days off us, and how it is being used.
