So far, all going according to prediction - my wife has been asleep in bed since 2045!

Funny! You could catch the Night Tube now.

Reminds me of a time in ages past when I had a girlfriend who was using her father's pied da terre in Russell Square whilst she studied. I was working on a farm in Middlesex before going up to University and used to visit her on my day off (Saturday). Usually I went up Friday night and came back on Saturday night to be up for milking at 0600.

So, one weekend we ended up with friends and drank too much to remember to get the last train. I was up at 3am trudging off to try and find a way home in time to milk - ended up paying a Black Cab about GBP110 (back in 1987 when that was 2 weeks wages!) to drive me there.

I once fell asleep on the last night train out of London to High Wycombe. I should have got off around half way at Denham so anyway I'm walking down the platform wondering what to do and I ask the driver if there are any trains going back to London that night.

He says no but he is taking the empty train back to London and I'm welcome to join him in the cab. He stopped the train outside Denham station and I got out of the cab and walked across the lines to get to the road.

I can't imagine that sort of thing happening these days. Everything is far too PC.

Gosh! What year is it for you when you go back in your time capsule to her time and visit now?

(2040=year 20:40= 24 hour time ☺️)

You're not wrong there! The old elf an' safety mate, innit?

Strangely my childhood dentist, a Kiwi, worked in High Wycombe which isn't far from where I grew up. I also used to frequent the Falcon Inn in Denham once upon a time.

I vaguely remember going to a dentist in the centre of High Wycombe who I thought came from Australia at the time but he could have been a Kiwi. This would have been around the early 1970's.

I bought my first house at Stokenchurch about 5 or 6 miles north of Wycombe. Lived around there for 7 or 8 years.

Strange how we've now both ended up on the other side of the planet. It wasn't that bad there, at least not until they built the M40.

His name was Paul Chicken.

Well of course Stokenchurch Cutting would have been a big thing I suppose if you lived there.

My family is all over - US, Canada, NZ and UK (one sibling in each!). We are not a particularly close family (for example, I have a 19 year old nephew I have never met..!) so I guess without that, you can just be anywhere that suits your purpose at the time, really.
