As usual I'll fire recently expired or excessive distress flares at midnight to the sky (which is legally as well with a dedicated weapon) when all neighbours standing at the streets with their drinking glasses or tumblers for new year's wishes. Sometimes I'm surrounded by some kinda pyromaniacs who spended this year the crazy insane amount of 138.000.000 € (= 232.523.790 NZ$) for fireworks and firecrackers solitary in our country. The more the merrier.

How do you chase the old year away to welcome the new one? More silently and contemplative? Or will you have some bangs in your pockets as well? What are your traditions and habits at midnight?

I will be part way through my South Island tour. I will probably have a few glasses of wine, and step outside my motel room at midnight in the hope that someone else will entertain me with some fireworks, then go to bed.

I have a 1 year old who wakes up about the same time every day. I'll be asleep well before midnight.

New Year is overrated. It's the same as the old year except with a different number assigned to it.

I went to Trafalgar Square in London many years ago with my girlfriend of the time and it was terminally boring. Thousands of people stood around freezing to death and a few drunk nutters jumped in the fountains. At midnight everyone had a bit of a snog and then went off to get the tube home only to discover that it had stopped at 10 minutes past midnight.

It took us 4 hours to get home.

New Year's Eve party tonight. My friends are already drunk. So, I'm feeling a little bit weird because I'm sober. I believe we will have fun tonight. Happy New Year Geekzone!

A quiet night with neighbors over at ours for a few drinks, Midnight kiss with the wife, hugs all round with everybody else, 12.30am asleep in bed.

Funny! You could catch the Night Tube now.

Reminds me of a time in ages past when I had a girlfriend who was using her father's pied da terre in Russell Square whilst she studied. I was working on a farm in Middlesex before going up to University and used to visit her on my day off (Saturday). Usually I went up Friday night and came back on Saturday night to be up for milking at 0600.

So, one weekend we ended up with friends and drank too much to remember to get the last train. I was up at 3am trudging off to try and find a way home in time to milk - ended up paying a Black Cab about GBP110 (back in 1987 when that was 2 weeks wages!) to drive me there.
