Yes both are the low user rates, couldn't justify standard rates, every provider says we are low user...users.

That rate is quite pricey. Did you take a look at Powerswitch? I think in your case Electric Kiwi may work out to be one of the cheapest for you due to their per kWh rate and daily charge. I'm a low user and personally have found Flick Electric to be the cheapest for me (averaging 21c/unit over a year so far despite the recent spikes and the dry summer).

For your ISP don't go with the cheapest - I've blogged about it Here today. I also wouldn't recommend My Republic to anyone.

Flick Electric for power, soon to be 2degrees for Broadband.

Interesting, what made you switch from Bigpipe?

I am still with 2degrees. They have been pretty good, and with a little nudging they managed a really quick turn around on my fibre install when I moved just recently.

Only gripe with them is that you have to stay alert and ask them to switch your plans when they update their pricing.

Honestly I found Powerswitch to be confusing, I will look at them in a few months time I like to look at different options every 2 or 3 months since I would like to save where I can where possible. I plan I chose from Contact is good for myself and my partner as we both use our vehicles excessively and the cents off will help.

I guess in hindsight I should of first announced my intentions before changing. I just hope I don't get charged a cancellation fee from Orcon as I can't seem to confirm if they will charge one or not to cancel the power portion of a contract, would be rather silly if they did IMO, in hindsight again I should have confirmed this with them.

Contact 20% discount is for prompt payment, not a price discount really.

I hope it still helps as I was getting 10% prompt discount from Orcon. Time will tell I guess.

Meridian at the moment, add their $200 joining credit on a 12 month contract and they're probably the best rates in Christchurch (not interested in signing a 24 month contract).

If I was expecting to use over 7200 units a year or didn't want to join a contract, new players energyclubnz are looking awesome, some of my friends will be switching over to them soon.

And 2degrees for internet, again the joining credit brings it down to $69/month for the year which you can't beat especially including a router (for $30)

True. It becomes a penalty at an extraordinary annual interest rate if payment is late.

I took the OP's post as a thread about bundles, however

I'm with Spark for fibre

Genesis for gas (cooking)

Electric Kiwi for power. No discount but the free hour of power is the pseudo discount. Right now with low bills ($35 per fortnight) Im saving 10%, that goes up to 25% as usage increases, so not bad for a fixed rate

BigPipe’s multi day Enable outage about 12 months ago following a water main burst ruined it for me. Watched 2degrees resolve it in a few hours and Spark customers didn’t even go down.
When I emailed BigPipe they said they were always looking for ways to improve the network and closed the ticket.
I think you can’t go past Spark for reliability especially outside the main centres.
