jpoc:

Can you describe in explicit detail how the phone charger was connected to the phone. In particular, describe the position of the cable between the charger and the phone.

People often wind the cable from the charger into a loop for the purpose of tidiness.

Even the NZ fire brigades - who are well behind the times in electrical equipment safety - have recognized this as a hazard.

Charger was on the carpet, phone was on my desk, about 50cm above ground. Cable was tangled no more than normal, and by normal I mean not quite a straight line, but curving around the side of the cable up into my phone.

Could of been the switch board yes, we have owned it for years. Maybe it overheated(Or something else?) And fried everything t was connected to it at the time.

Being from Noel Leemings I'm guessing it was a non Oneplus jobbie that they swapped the original Dash charger out with?

Personally I would either buy a Oppo NZ Dash charger or source a Chinese pin genuine Oneplus charger from Aliexpress or similar and use that as you can gently reposition the pins to fit into NZ sockets
