'Scams' Almost needs its own subheading/area

This is about the 4-5th thread/notification of them  in various forms/forums when it's quite widespread.

I've just been blocking these on my phone. I've had 3 in the last week, same with my wife (her phone number is 3 digits higher than mine). I've told her to just block them. Hopefully they get bored or run out of numbers soon.

We just had a rash of these calls at the office.... about 15 in the pace of 10mins.  All from different numbers (local, cell, international). Fun.........

Can't be via Vocus with their smart system then? :)

But still targeting that 525xxxx/526xxxx range. You would think they'd be able to track them down and squash fast.

I wonder about the point of trying to scam people in an English speaking country with a message in Mandarin that the vast majority of the population won't understand.

Mine was from 09 526 9359 at 8:22am this morning.

Thought it was an update on an order I'm waiting on from Alibaba. Damn.

I got one the other day, too. Only picked it up because I'm expecting a call and the phone said it was coming from Auckland. Then got the Chinese language which started to repeat and I hung up. Couldn't get the number to block it afterward as it said 'unknown'. Doh.

So on my account online, here is the offending number:

I had one from 021118165 this afternoon with the pre-recorded chinese/mandarin message.

Interestingly 2 hours earlier I had someone phone me saying they missed a call from my number. She was as confused as I was, since I didn't make a call.

I suspect my number was spoofed somehow and it's on some list of numbers the scammers are using.

I've been getting these pre-recorded calls for some time now.  really annoying and I can't see the purpose of them.
