I find it is generally the cheapest products that you are almost giving away, that get the most stupid inquiries. I sold an almost unused f&p washing machine recently, and almost had to give it away due to all the cheap ones that are now on the market. It had so many tyre kickers wanting me to deliver it etc, even though I clearly said it was pickup only.Then had professional traders who sold washing machines even tyre kicking trying to get it for nearly nothing. It can bring out the worst in people.

I like it when someone asks me to separate something that isn't easily removable. This usually comes with a question about a lower price.

I usually respond with something like, no but how about I sell you an oar for $300 and it comes with a free Kayak!

We get asked for lower prices all the time, I am not offended usually, and I have plenty of times offered less.

If I see someone offering something for sale on GZ, and I might want it a little but only if I can get it cheap, I'll take that into a PM, and say I did so, as I didn't want to potentially affect their asking price, by publically stating I'll only pay significantly less. Most people appreciate the gesture.

That is very common when selling something like a DVD player and remote for say $30. They ask if you will sell the remote by itself for $10. But without the remote the player is crippled. So if they want the remote, they should just buy the package and sell the player.

Yep, the number of people offering "cash now" way below reserve or buy now price is annoying. The way I see it these are all people who want to get cheap and instantly relist for a profit.

What about "no"?

It's a ball of fun to have, partly because he's a dick who doesn't understand what he's actually trying to sell, thus way overpricing it!

1/3 will change their minds,
1/3 will not and reply nicely (no, I let this auction run for now etc)
1/3 will not and get angry.

I thick it is just a reflection of personality types. Angry people will get angry.

I thick it is just a reflection of personality types. Angry people will get angry.

Or maybe that last third of 'angry' people are instead of the personality type who mean what they say on the auction and don't suffer fools.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

So, why they reply with all the hate? CAPITAL LETTERS, sarcasm etc. It is quicker to just reply "no" or simply ignore the question.
They just open them selves up for being further wound up with deliberately stupid questions. My favourite is "do you have it in pink?"

The thing that gets me is when someone wins it and then afterwards say "can i pay it over 6 weeks" when you say no or "why did you not ask before the auction finished" the reply you get "oh because i really wanted it and did not want someone else to buy it"

Here's a stupid one I came across the other day:

Item has a Buy Now of $50 and seller allows pickup.

Question "Would you do $350 pickup now?"

Hell yes! But why would you offer 7x the asking price? Seems like a typo or a scam to me.

What I find even more annoying is say you sell something for $120, they come to pick it up and try and offer $100....

I had one auction where I was selling a collectible Lego set..... bidding war occurs. Sells for $230. Guy comes to pick it up.... "think you were asking too much for it" - I had the reserve as $120.

We're moving away, selling off our machinery etc. We had 3 spare late 90's Subaru Legacies, decided to give some needy person a chance, listed them for $200-250 each, pickup only in our rural location.
My wife imagined having cuppas with thankful solo mums picking up that little car they could finally afford..

Phone & txt went crazy with: "deliver it to Auckland and I'll pay an extra $100" "meet my brother at *some random place* and he'll swap you some buds" "leave it regoed in your name and I'll pay it off at $50 per week"

Had a bunch of calls arranging to come out, but only two showed up - the first was three guys who I immediately ran off after they threw empty Jim Beam premix cans out their car window onto our lawn..

Then late yesterday my phone started going crazy with texts. Someone was walking around outside the shed setting the cameras off. I go out to where the cars are and there's a guy trying the car doors.
Turns out it was him who'd emailed a couple of days ago to say he was coming, but it had taken him this long to hitch-hike out to our place.

Obvious issues, ill fitting raggy clothes (wife noticed his pants were hemmed with a stapler), straggly beard, suitcase of possessions, small dog on a string.
He asked if he could live in the car "for a week or two" until his WINZ benefit came through, when he'd be able to pay us and be on his way.. and did we have any food? Not so much for him, but his dog hadn't eaten lately..

Luckily the local mental health people answered their phone - and we were able to drive him to a nearby town, stopping at McDonalds on the way (yes, one for the dog too)
It nearly came undone when they wouldn't take the dog at the shelter, but we managed to sort that out.

So today the cars have been donated to the scrap metal guy.
I guess if we'd asked a bit more - maybe $1500 each - we'd have got a better class of buyer..
