This has got to be the most stupid query I've had on an auction in the years I've used TradeMe.... :D Whats the worst/most stupid question you've had on your auctions ?

I'm selling the item for $30.

Q. Hey would you sell for $10 and be able to drop it off around CBD?

A. So you're offering me a 3rd of the price I'm asking, AND want me to drop it off ? I'm not seeing any positives for me here apart from the fact it will be off my shelf. So no thanks.

Think the dumbest I have had is someone asking if I need to sight their firearms license, when I'm selling a rifle.

And no - it wasn't Heather Du Plessis Allan.

I get annoyed with the "will you swap for...."

It's usually when I'm selling something like an iPhone and they want to swap for a Samsung or something like that. I've also had plenty of the "I'll give you half what you are asking cash right now"

i dont mind asking for a lower price, so many people want too much for second hand goods, sometimes 90% of the original purchase price.  It depends on the goods they are selling.

A: "Screen is faulty, unsure on reason"

Q: "Does the screen work and what do I need to do to replace it"

A: "Yes"

They went on to ask further questions to which I simply replied Yes. I am sure they were trolling.

Yes I don't get the whole 'cash right now' thing for Trademe purchases. Paying by the 20th of next month, lay-by, hire purchase, and cheque payments were never options on my auction pal....

I like it when someone asks me to separate something that isn't easily removable. This usually comes with a question about a lower price.

I usually respond with something like, no but how about I sell you an oar for $300 and it comes with a free Kayak!

We get asked for lower prices all the time, I am not offended usually, and I have plenty of times offered less.

If I see someone offering something for sale on GZ, and I might want it a little but only if I can get it cheap, I'll take that into a PM, and say I did so, as I didn't want to potentially affect their asking price, by publically stating I'll only pay significantly less. Most people appreciate the gesture.

me: 3k

next day:

how about 2500 cash?

me: no

2600 is all I can find, im really interested

me: no

next day:

you really wont accept 2400 in cash tonight?

It was actually quite funny, was tempted to keep it going to see if they would start going lower and lower.

If there is one thing I have learned through managing online businesses for 16 years: People don't read. :(

I generally just get annoyed at people who simply don't read the listing details and ask a question that is already clearly answered in the listing. A common one is putting in the listing that I want the auction to run and will not be posting a "buy now"... nek minute "Do you have  abuy now price?  Grrrrr

I also generally find that those that ask a lot of questions rarely end up being the successful buyer.

i have a favorite seller who gets stupid questions every time he relists a certain product...

It's a ball of fun to have, partly because he's a dick who doesn't understand what he's actually trying to sell, thus way overpricing it!

in general though, there are some seriously dumb questions asked... that i just can't stand dealing with.
