I think the Trademe feedback problem could be fixed in one simple move.  Make it so that feedback is hidden until both parties have placed the feedback, and it can't be changed.

Both parties have more incentive to place feedback, because until they do they don't get any (shown), it removes the ability for people to drop retaliatory negatives, and it removes the hesitation to say it like it is due to the threat of retaliation.

gehenna:In no way, would I direct traffic to either site. They don't pay me a jolly thing. This is a TM gripe, just like the hundreds of other gripes that people complain about. People are so paranoid I thought I would come here, but have only found the same thing. It is obvious that other bloggers have had bad experiences on TM as well. Site is good, for selling, just the P R that needs work along with some other changes that could help out sellers and bidders alikeInnocent

A way to get -ves removed that my mate used a while back is to get several other people to do a purchase of the seller and then leave negatives, then the useless trader will get disabled.

Not exactly honest, but it works.

That completely undermines the whole system of feedback and would also be against TM T&Cs.

Perhaps it is, but once someones disabled you can get your -ve from them removed. Its working the system to you advantages.

Thats why I think that not leaving a -ve on a bad trade is the worst thing a seller can do, since the retaliatory one can be removed when the useless trader is disabled.

Alot of people do do it. I got 4 disabled. Manukau and waitakere. Though I am suspect about invercargill. Only because I blacklisted people from there. But each complaint went on about my measurements for clothing? I take photos with the measuring tape with the tape numbers clearly displayed.

End result, disabled. Nasty. Tm really need to look at the feedback system if people are going to target a seller for whatever reason. Nasty  Plaing freak'n nasty. Wonder if these people realise that some of us use TM to keep our heads above water. NASTY

You never emailed, you never paid. I got refunded the listing fee. Cheers

ANOTHER AUCTION: BIDDER WAS NOT GETTING ANY OF MY EMAILS. 7 I SENT HER (ALWAYS SEND 1 PER DAY) i GOT 3 EMAILS FROM HER. I ASKED TM 3 TIMES TO DIRECT BIDDER TO JUNK EMAIL THEN SUGGESTED LINK TO TM HELP WITH EMAILS. I THEN GAVE TM A PRINT SCREEN OF THE EMAILS I WAS SENDING HER AS PROOF I WAS TRYING TO GET IN CONTACT WITH HER, BUT TM DO NOT INFERE WITH BIDDER/SELLER. I DID NOT GET ERROR MESSAGES WHEN SENDING. I USED WINDOWS LIVE AND XTRA TO SEND EMAILS IN THE EVENT ONE OR THE OTHER WAS NOT GETTING THROUGH. STILL NO JOY. BLOG IT TRIED TO HELP HELP FROM BLOGGERS. GOT RED INSTEAD. THAT I WAS A RIP OFF. TRIED ALL I JOLLY WELL COULD. MY PHOTOS ON TM STILL HAVE THOSE EMAILS THAT ARE NO GOOD TO THEM ONLY BIDDER. I DID DIRECT THEM TO HELP WITH EMAILS ON TM. DID ALL I COULD. Frown

Stop yelling.

Trademe dont get involved in disputes like this, just live with the feedback and move on.

The solution is that all communication should go via trademe IMO, as they are the facilitators of the sale, As it is you only get one thing sent each way via the my trademe things, and if you choose pickup the buyer cant send an address and a note.

If I dont hear anything in 3 days I leave a neutral feedback saying that, and ask for an alternate email address since they are with xtra so are probably missing emails, most will then give you a hotmail or gmail and it works fine.

Still nothing after a couple of days and they have signed in, change to negative and forget the trade, move along.

richms: very difficult to move on when some people do the following things  "my mate used a while back is to get several other people to do a purchase of the seller and then leave negatives, then the useless trader will get disabled.

THE IDEA IS NOT TO GET DISABLED BECAUSE OF SOMEONE PLAYING SILLY MIND GAMES WITH SELLERS WHO ARE TRYING TO PUT A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA IN THEIR CHILDRENS LUNCH BOXESSealed

It was a completley different situation, there was a seller who was selling counterfeit items, making threats in feedback rather then arranging a refund and trademe were their usual non cooperative selves over the matter. They seem to have changed attitude with respect to fakes now, but still will only take complaints from the "authorized agent" whoever the hell that is.

The item in question was some dvd-r's which were branded (cant recall the brand now) and were clearly not that when you actually got them, they were just cheap crap with the branding on the packaging. Seller was sending quite obnoxious emails and was in general a right tosser about it.

I had bad past expirience buying PC using trademe... Basically, what happened.

Guy sold me second hand PC and did not mentioned that MB is faulty, next day I've txt him about it and he admits that it require replacement and that he would give me refund... after week of waiting for his reply on calls, txts and e-mails I've placed negative feedback about faulty product sold... in 5 mins I got feedback reply with abusive language :( I've contacted trademe staff to delete his reply... all they did just fixed it (deleted abusive language and did nothing more) its obvious that I end up paying for faulty product and also got bad feedback for paying in full and wait for his reply for a week :(

system should be well monitored or changed, or at least that should provide dispute arbitrage or something.

Take the seller to disputes, and put on the claim form removal of feedback.

if it was to me, then... yeah I did write to trademe about everything in my e-mails regarding feedback and sale of faulty goods... all they answered is that it's people trust community and everybody is free to post feedback unless it's abusive, includes contact details and other... btw, I've managed to find mb problem (one of the IDE connectors was faulty, Ijust unplugged it... used mb for a year :) untill it died complitely a week ago)

hey .. on the note of feedback .. I had a chat with a mate about how you can't link to your feedback from another site - which sucks if you are trusted on one but not the other.
So I started playing with the idea and came up with

http://www.feedbacks.co.nz/
http://www.feedbacks.co.nz/users/view/Mr%20K - this is my profile aggregate

It's not finished - I mean it works, you can login and set up your profiles ... but what do you think?

Feel free to play...and comment about it.  The idea I guess was as more auction sites come up - we have a common place to see who we can trust etc
