Yes, but I think they probably had 25000 'Friends of the Mission'. It wasn't hard to sign up.

An article in the Herald this morning said they had an online queue of 7,000 at 845am yesterday. Tickets all gone bar a small amount they are releasing next week (presumably for the non-Friends?)

I've been waiting for this all of my life. I can't dance, but I would be really pleased if he would put on one more night in the Martinborough vineyards. He does have a long, long way to go though.

I imagine that there must be some non-friends tickets for next week. How many I cannot guess.

The purchasing process was.... "interesting".... I went to the MissionConcert site before 9; was told I was going to be put into a random place in a queue; just after 9, I was told that I'd need to wait over an hour to access the website.

So, instead I went to TickeTek, typed the code that Mission had emailed me, and had my tickets 30 seconds later.

What was the point of a having dedicated ticketing website ?

Yep seems strange - the $8 booking fee is absolute cream for the organiser and i would have thought Mission would want to reap the maximum benefit from that rather than share the love with Ticketek......

Ticketing total shambles again. Was logged in well before, selected purchase tickets at 9:00:03 but had to wait 30 seconds for server to agree it was 9 am then put in a ‘random, queue of over 6,000. This took 45 minutes to count down only to find general admission tickets sold out. Picked gold seating instead only to be put in another queue for 20 minutes at which point they were sold out. Just to test it, I selected gold wheelchair tickets which bumpted me onto a queue of over a thousand ??? What kind of process is that suppost to be ?

I’m sure plenty tickets will appear on the reseller sites soon enough. Should be like airline tickets, printed with your name on them and photo ID required for entry.

Totally dissallusioned.

The booking fee goes to Ticketek, not the organisers, and is the only revenue that they make from the ticket (and probably the interest from holding all that money too). The mission wouldn't have the technology to sell 25,000 tickets as quickly as Ticketek can, not even close. And if they did, the cost would be much more than $8 per ticket. That would have been an absolute shambles.

I hoped on about 9:01am, and bought my ticket straight away. Tickets are like airline tickets, they have your name and photo id is required for entry. From the FAQ, "As an additional security measure, we require the name of each patron on their Print-At-Home E-tickets. It is your responsibility to name each of your Reserved Seat tickets in the name of the person who will use the tickets to gain entry to the event, BEFORE you download and print the tickets" (emphasis theirs)

The one thing I don't like about the tickets is that they can change the acts, and if that happens, there is no refund. I'm not sure if that is even legal, but it is in the terms and conditions. I've already been burnt once by that (P!nk didn't play at Rumba in 2002), but I guess that this the risk you take.

Since day one the promotors of the Mission concerts have always contracted the artist(s) to only perform at the Mission venue in the North Island plus one concert in the South Island. If there was an Auckland show it would totally dilute the market and they wouldn't get the ticket sales to pay an appearance fee let alone all the other costs involved. Will be curious to see what happens if a second show is put on.

We saw him last year in Paris and it was the same so I think he will be ok. Inititall, I freaked out because he looked so frail, but man, he can still sing which is awesome.

Not a big fan of PC (dunno how I got here :-) ) but enjoyed this show on RNZ which covered music myths including the story of 'something in the air'.

As you can tell from the title, the story of the drowning is a myth. The story of the myth itself was interesting though.
