Playing a concert in Christchurch and The Mission Winery in Napier.

I saw him in Paris last year. He looked pretty frail, but his voice was excellent.

I'm likely going to Christchurch to see it I think.

Last saw him at Knebworth in 1990.  Very tempted to take a trip up to the Hawkes Bay.

If we can get tickets to the Mission concert, we will go. We booked accommodation this morning just in case..! Already almost fully booked in the region.

I would pay $100 more on my ticket price to hear him and his son perform Colours together. More probably.

It's not my favourite of his songs of all time, but it's right up there.

He is only 67, which isn't that old really these days.. According to wikipedia  think he had a back injury a while ago, so uses a cane

One of my all-time favourite singers. I'd give almost anything to see him live - pity neither Napier nor Christchurch are handy to me :(

Saw him years ago in Brisbane, I think he was raising money for his divorce settlement :)

Before he came on stage you could hear bagpipes playing, apparently it was him "warming up" for the show.

I assume based on this travelling to those locations isn't an option for some reason?

Yep, cost. If he was in Auckland (or even Hamilton) I could do it.

I believe a few years back he announced he either had tinnitus or was deaf in one ear (or both) due to years of drum playing?

It'll be summer too, no jacket required.

I've been waiting for this all of my life. I can't dance, but I would be really pleased if he would put on one more night in the Martinborough vineyards. He does have a long, long way to go though.

Geektastic: We got tickets for The Mission concert. 😷

See you there; perhaps we should organize a GeekZone Meetup...

The purchasing process was.... "interesting"....  I went to the MissionConcert site before 9; was told I was going to be put into a random place in a queue; just after 9, I was told that I'd need to wait over an hour to access the website.

So, instead I went to TickeTek, typed the code that Mission had emailed me, and had my tickets 30 seconds later.

What was the point of a having dedicated ticketing website ?

I see the Mission is pretty much sold out, and they are talking of a second show there - that will be a first for them.

I wonder if they'll consider Auckland now that the Mission is sold out though? I'm sure the Mission would have it sewn up they they can't put on another North Island show, but now that theirs is sold out is it an option?

I'd go to an Auckland one, but cannot get time to go to Napier on the Wednesday unfortunately.

AFAIK - and I may be wrong as the memsahib dealt with this - the tickets that went on sale yesterday were the pre-sale 'friends of Mission' ones. I presume that they do not allocate 100% of the available seats to that pre-sale, so it may be that there will be general release tickets next week?
