billgates: ^ Ok, You are misusing the CGA here when in no way it's the retailers fault. Luckily CGA is full of wise people who don't go around and claim money from the Retailer for cashbacks when it's not their responisibility unless they wrongly advertised it.

They advertised the cashback at POS and therefore are responsible under the fair trading act to ensure that the product they sold is sold for the amount stated.

I do believe that if the retailer advertises something they are responsible for providing it. If you don't want that responsibility don't advertise it.

I've had to chase up many cashbacks for customers because I viewed it as my responsibility having advertised that it came with a cashback, and then it not being provided in the timeframe.

Like I said it may fall under the FTA as well, as misleading advertising. Actually thinking of it now it is more likely to be that one than the CGA but it nonetheless does fall with the retailer as I would be sure they promoted it in-store.

While I feel for them having been in that situation many times before they need to man up if you're not getting anywhere with the cashback provider. I've even had to go so far as giving the cashback myself and then chasing it up with company. Its called honoring obligations.

Folks, if you have not received your cashback and if it's beyond the time (including working days, etc) please send me a PM with your name and phone number and I will forward to someone at Microsoft NZ who will contact the company doing the cashback for them to check these out.

Mine turned up a couple of weeks ago - just a random deposit appearing in our account from some random name - nothing identifying it as the MS cashback.

Hmm, I wouldn't mind some random guy depositing money into my account, haha.

Well, at least you give us (those still waiting) hope:)

Bump.

I'm still waiting for one. I've just emailed cashback@promtel.com.au as the claim email says so I'll see what happens.

Anybody else still waiting?

Still waiting for a Toshiba cashback from May!

I read today that the ComCom is looking into Cashbacks due to complaints it has received.
