The way I see it is "climate change" is going to happen whether humans are involved or not. We are smart enough to adapt to our environment, I mean we have people on the south pole where its common to be -50 degrees. I would rather humans concentrate on cleaning up our water ways and ocean. Plastic is a bigger problem than "climate change" IMHO.

LookingUp:

My wife and I making a conscious decision not to have children, despite (gentle) family pressure.  There are too many people on this rock already.

I'm sorry you feel this way. Having a family is a wonderful experience. The population of Nigeria is expected to reach half a billion in 30 years. I worry for people that are prepared to sacrifice so much and it won't make a jot of difference in the scheme of things.

We don't do much. We recycle and compost our green waste but the council doesn't make it easy.

Not having 22 kids:

Another 4, and you could just use all the letters of the alphabet, no need to worry about names ...

Yeah its a little bit of an empty comment tbh; a couple can have a single child and still benefit from the experience while still reducing the number of people (conceptually).

Do you mind if I ask which Hybrid Mike?

Very nice! Would have bought the exact same when they came out last year if they hadn’t low-balled me on the trade-in value of my Camry Hybrid. Shame it doesn’t have a HUD like the top model Camry and Corolla hybrids do, but that’s just the gadget freak coming out in me! Supposedly there is a plug-in version of the RAV4 due for release about this time next year.

Electric bike

Electric Lawn Mower

Electric car (but I also have a cheap petrol car for longer trips)

Not sure any of it really is helping the planet at all, but they are fun toys regardless.

Why would you worry yourself about other peoples' personal decisions that don't affect you?

I never had a wife or children and I don't have any regrets about it. Each to their own.

We changed all of our lights from traditional incandescent down lights (which were very inefficient) to sealed LED's that not only use less power and produce less heat, but also fill the hole left by the old down lights, increasing the thermal seal in our ceiling.

Hopefully it'll help us and the planet.
