nzkiwiman:

I really hope I can get a coffee at either the local cafe or via McDonalds/BP/Z via an app or something soon.

Maccas drive thru will be open from Tuesday morning, and will be serving coffee. Wave to my son at a nice social distance when you pick up your flat white!

KFC finally put out a statement on operating under level 3. And they confirm the use of paywave.

https://www.kfc.co.nz/store-updates/

So close, you can almost taste it 🍗

We’ll soon be back frying the chicken you love but with even more safety measures in place.  As part of our commitment to safety, the front counter will remain closed for now, but you can still get KFC contact free by visiting the drive thru or ordering home delivery.

As  part of our increased safety measures, we have paywave available and will only be accepting cashless payments.  We will also be operating a limited menu in the short term, you can find details here

To ensure the health and wellbeing of our customers, team and community we’ll be opening our stores in a phased approach.  For the most up to date information check this page regularly.

Thanks for your understanding, we look forward to serving you soon.

Well it only took a giant global pandemic to get kfc finally taking paywave. Lets hope it stays because I hate using pinpads at foodcourts after washing my hands even without deadly disese going around.

Amen to that! The transparent keypad protectors on the EFTPOS terminals always look grotty as! I have been punching in pin numbers with my knuckles for years for this very reason...

I use the corner of a second card in my wallet. Anything to avoid touching those key pads.

I should use the end of a sharp stick or something. See how they like replacing pinpads all the time.

Let's hope whoever is charging the premium for paywave (though I believe there has been some relief of this during this pandemic) stops charging such a premium for the use of it here (they don't appear to in some other countries) even after things get back to normal

Good to see Uber eats taking a hard line on not reducing their commissions.  Maybe it will spur on other companies, or individual outlets to come up with better solutions.

I am curious as to how 'contactless delivery' works. What if there is nowhere hygienically appropriate on your property to leave the item? At my place it would be okay to leave food items on my outdoor furniture, but if the furniture is wet due to rain then that could be a problem.

The one time I had Dominos during the 2 days we were at level 3 they just knocked and left it on my front porch and walked off. I assume its the same here with pizza hut. Technically they're are also supposed to stay a few meters back and make sure you pick it up alright but I doubt many will do that. Which is fine. Knocking and leaving is enough imo, maybe a text to let people know its arrived.

I won't be using uber eats for a while after this.  menulog (which has a standard commission rate of 14%) will be dropping theirs down to 7% till 1st June 2020.  I have download their app (normally used the website).  Extra bonus that my fav Indian place is on it :)
