At this particular moment Tanita Tikaram Twist In My Sobriety.
“The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.” -John Kenneth Galbraith

my two favorite periods would be the baroque and classical.
Baroque because it introduced melodic music from the likes of Antonio Vivaldi (The 4 seasons) and Beethoven (perhaps the inventer of modern pop music - the riff from the 5th symphony).
Classical would be the likes of Richard Wagner and the opera Die Ring des Nibelungen and Die Walkure. Where each character has their own theme (leitmotif)

Absolutely.
I'll volunteer this for now, because for now I kind of like it now : Kokoroko - Abusey Junction
You might enjoy Khruangbin & Hiatus Kaiyote as well. The video you posted came up on my Youtube Music personalized playlist a few weeks back, through listening to those two groups.
My choice could change week to week, day to day in terms of favorite.
For now; Jay Electronica - Exhibit A
The Kokoroko track came up on my YT music as well. Actually the studio version which is better, but I love the video hence posted that.
I'm really over old music. I'm in my 60s, time is short, there's no freaking way I'll listen to old Pink Floyd or the Stones or whatever by first choice.
There is so much talent, and so much outstanding music over the past 10 years. I'm not dead yet.
Khruangbin I listen to. I'll listen to Hiatus Kaiyote (new to me I think).
You do need a good sound system - much recent stuff does not work well on systems from the 80s etc.
Maybe you'll like this:
Oceanvs Orientalis - Tarlabasi (Be Svendsen Remix)
Radiohead - OK Computer - Paranoid Android.
I listen to all kinds of music but I'll listen to that album, and that song in particular, at least once every week. Seeing it live in Auckland a few years ago is up there with my wife and kids !

A favourite song doesn't mean it's something I listen to often (for me at least). It is a song that always brings pleasant emotions and a certain sense of time and place, YMMV.

That is surprising, coming from you. Classical is 'old' music. Old just means it has stood the test of time. Music either appeals or it doesn't. It has nothing to do with some arbitrary date stamp placed on it.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Brings back memories of Sunday arvos in a beer garden, in any Queensland pub , in the 80's.
Single favourite piece of music:
the keyboard solo in Riders On The Storm
And seeing as many others are also listing more than one, two favourite songs:
Time - Pink Floyd
Irena's Theme - Giorgio Moroder (from the Catpeople soundtrack)
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
One More Night, Phil Collins. Big fan of his stuff in the 80s and 90s. Not so much past 2002.
Handle9:
Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits
Solid choice. I would probably also have something by Knopfler as a main choice, but it's very hard to choose. If I could have the Local Hero OST album as a 'piece' of music, I would go with that.
There's also a beautiful track on his 2009 album Get Lucky called 'Monteleone', which I think is technically a waltz? It's very simple, very sweet.
I would also not argue with anyone who wanted to say 'Telegraph Road'. Feels very timeless at the moment.
For a non-Knopfler answer? It's five songs but they run as one. Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is Not A Cold Dead Place. It really is something special.
Tool H
Pink Floyd dark side of the moon
This is very hard to answer as there are so many I could pick!
I'm going to go with 'So What' from the album Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.
There are many other songs I could pick but that is one of the very few I can listen to endlessly and not tire of it.
